Ronald J. Bald, chief counsel for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law.

Mr. Bald, a veteran attorney and chief counsel, is the NASA Stennis Space Center’s direct legal adviser and the NASA Shared Services Center executive director in Hancock County, Mississippi. Lauded for his contributions to the administration, he oversees various areas of law, including procurement, FOIA requests, employment law, labor relations and real estate. Mr. Bald is also responsible for supervising five attorneys and a paralegal, while all legal work for these two centers is completed accurately, on time and meets customers’ needs. Having initially joined NASA in 2016, he held various positions, including deputy chief counsel, senior attorney, deputy chief counsel and chief counsel.

Beginning his career in the military, Mr. Bald was an officer in the United States Coast Guard from 1987 to 2009. Subsequently, he became a deputy staff judge advocate for the Eighth Coast Guard District of the U.S. Coast Guard Atlantic Area between 2006 and 2009. He also taught in the school of continuing studies at Tulane University from 2010 to 2012. Additionally, Mr. Bald served as a deputy counsel for the U.S. Navy Office of General Counsel, U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and U.S. Navy in the Greater New Orleans area of Louisiana from 2009 to 2016.

In preparation for his career, Mr. Bald received a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 1987, a Master of Public Management from the University of Houston Clear Lake in 1995 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence in maritime law from Tulane University in 2003. He was admitted to practice by the Mississippi Bar Association. Besides his education, he is active as a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Mr. Bald’s expertise in government legal services and government law has earned him much recognition. He also received numerous accolades from the U.S. federal government and the U.S. Coast Guard. He notes that his success is primarily due to those who have influenced and supported him throughout his life.
