Patrick Szymanski, Esq., General Counsel at The Strategic Organizing Center and Attorney of his own firm Patrick J. Szymanski PLLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in labor and employment law, litigation and appellate practice.
Mr. Szymanski credits his success in the legal field due to his upbringing and academic pursuits. With more than four decades of experience aiding clients in matters pertaining to labor and employment law, as well as other legal issues, Mr. Szymanski currently serves as the General Counsel of The Strategic Organizing Center. He has also practiced in a private practice since 2005, Patrick J. Szymanski PLLC. Earlier in his career, he served on the Appellate Court Branch of the National Labor Relations Board of the Division of Enforcement Litigation for the Office of the General Counsel. He moved into an associate position at Beeson, Tayer & Bodine. From 1983 to 1988, Mr. Szymanski served again on with the Appellate Court Branch, National Labor Relations Board, Division of Enforcement Litigation at the Office of the General Counsel. From 1988 to 2004, he was a shareholder for Baptiste & Wilder.
After this position, Mr. Szymanski was the General Counsel for the International Brotherhood of Teamsters from 1999 to 2005. He then brought his expertise as the Counsel to Employee Trustees in the Central States, Southeast and Southwest Areas Pension Fund and Health and Welfare Funds from 2006 to 2012. Also recently in his career, Mr. Szymanski served on the merger counsel for the U.S. Airline Pilots Association from 2011 to 2015. He has also served as the teaching assistant of civil procedure, research assistant for Wayne State University. In order to serve in these legal positions, he first earned a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from Wayne State University in 1973. He continued at the institute to receive a JD in 1976.
In addition to his work, Mr. Szymanski has published and contributed to numerous articles and professional journals. He served on the editorial board of the Wayne State University Law Review when he was a student at the university and later co-authored, “Labor Arbitration: Cutting Cost and Time Without Cutting Quality,” and “The Employee Free Choice Act Online Debate.” In 2000, Mr. Szymanski was recognize with the Samuel M. Kaynard Award for Excellence in the Fields of Labor & Employment Law from the Hofstra Labor & Employment Law Journal. He has been featured in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the East and Who’s Who in the World.
