Rob McAngus, JD, partner at Verner Brumley Mueller Parker PC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in legal services.
With over a decade of experience to his credit, Mr. McAngus has established a successful career in legal services, specializing in family law and divorce. He has been a partner at Verner Brumley Mueller Parker PC since 2017, where he has practiced as an attorney since 2012. His prior experience includes working as an attorney at The Williamson Law Firm from 2014 to 2017, as an associate at Ward & Turton from 2013 to 2014, and as a contract attorney at Buether Joe & Carpenter in 2013. He also ran his own practice, McAngus Law PLLC, in 2013. Before transitioning into law, he served as an Oracle analyst for the Garland Independent School District from 2005 to 2013 and as a teacher from 2002 to 2005. His legal career began with a clerkship at Ramirez & Associates from 2011 to 2012, and he taught in the Gholson Independent School District from 2000 to 2001.
Mr. McAngus is a Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He has been involved with BNI Rockwall’s Classic Connections since 2013, and he has been a member of the Collin County Bar Association, Rockwall Bar Association, American Bar Association, and Dallas Bar Association since 2012 and 2011, respectively. Additionally, he has served as director of marketing for the Associate Producers of Dallas Summer Musicals since 2015 and chairs the Legislative Committee of the Texas Family Law Foundation. Additionally, he serves as chair for the City Council, Planning and Zoning Committee, and Architectural Review Board, and is a member of the National Small Business Association Leadership Council.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. McAngus was honored with the Rising Stars recognition by Texas Super Lawyers Magazine in 2016 and 2017, and he was named among the Nation’s Top One Percent by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel in 2015. He laid a solid educational foundation, earning a Bachelor of Science in education from Baylor University in 1999 and a Master of Science in educational and instructional technology from Baylor University in 2001. He later earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law in 2012. His bar admissions include the Eastern and Northern Districts of Texas, both in 2013 and the State Bar of Texas in 2012.
Reflecting on his path, Mr. McAngus initially considered law school or pursuing a career in music. He spent two years as a music major but eventually felt burnt out. On the advice of his school advisor, he shifted to education with a focus on music, becoming certified to teach music, math, and elementary education. He takes pride in his involvement with the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the International Academy of Family Lawyers, both of which work to improve the practice and standards of family law domestically and internationally. He attributes his success to a strong work ethic, instilled by observing his father run his company and treat employees with respect. His advice to aspiring lawyers is to offer their time for free while in law school to gain experience, which positions them for better opportunities post-graduation. He also emphasizes perseverance, encouraging others to seek new opportunities when things don’t go as planned, rather than giving up.
