Before establishing his firm, Mr. Akbari was affiliated with Wilshire Law Firm as an attorney and senior partner from 2020 to 2023. He also garnered experience as an attorney and shareholder at Baum Hedlund, Aristei & Goldman PC (now Wisner Baum) in Los Angeles between 2005 and 2020. Early in his legal career, Mr. Akbari worked as a lawyer for the Law Offices of Arnold G. Regardie in Los Angeles from 2003 to 2005.
Before pivoting into practicing law, Mr. Akbari spent a year working in engineering after obtaining his undergraduate degree. While working for the biotech company, he was encouraged to consider law school. Mr. Akbari eventually discovered a company seeking an engineer to work with at their law firm on complex aviation cases. Mr. Akbari was quickly hired and remained with the firm for over 15 years.
In preparation for his future, Mr. Akbari received a Bachelor of Science in bioengineering and biomedical engineering at the University of California San Diego in 1999. Subsequently, he received a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Southwestern Law School in 2003. Mr. Akbari has been admitted to practice by the California Bar Association and multiple district courts in California, New York, Louisiana, Ohio, Florida and other states.
Mr. Akbari is active in his professional community as a member of the American Bar Association and as an editor for its professional aviation and space law committee newsletter. He is also active as the association’s aviation and space law general committee plaintiff vice chair. Among other commitments, Mr. Akbari is recognized as a fellow of the Litigation Council of America. Civically, he has been serving as an honorary board member for the Los Angeles Trial Lawyers Charities since 2014.
With a career marked by numerous professional accomplishments, Mr. Akbari has been involved in multiple complex cases that have gained nationwide notoriety. He was involved in the Germanwings crash case, where he represented the family of the only two American residents on board who were killed, alongside 150 other passengers, after the co-pilot committed suicide. Mr. Akbari also defended clients in other major airline disasters, such as Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302, and Southwest Airlines Flight 1248, as well as clients during the September 11th litigation.
In light of his remarkable success, Martindale Hubbell has listed Mr. Akbari as an AV-rated attorney. He has also earned numerous accolades and recognitions and has been included in Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers and The National Trial Lawyers.
