Mr. Dubbs is an attorney with more than 45 years of practice specializing in representing investment banks in both domestic and international securities suits. One of the top voices in his field, he has been inducted into the Legal 500 Hall of Fame, honored by Lawdragon, Benchmark Litigation and the National Law Journal. Furthermore, he holds an AV preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell. Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Dubbs has argued high-profile and landmark cases totaling billions of dollars in settlements for companies including American International Group, Bear Stearns and Deloitte & Touche LLP, and he has been admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of the United States and the U.S. Court of Appeals.

Mr. Dubbs holds a Master of Arts in international relations from the Fletcher School of Law Diplomacy at Tufts University and earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence at the University of Wisconsin in 1974. He began his career as an associate of Chadbourne and Parke LLP, from which he departed in 1984 to become a partner of Hall, McNicol, Hamilton and Clark. Through the 1990s, Mr. Dubbs served as the senior vice president and senior litigation counsel at Kidder Peabody & Co., and was named as a partner of Labaton Sucharow LLP in 1998, where he continues to practice. As one of the most influential voices in securities law, Mr. Dubbs is an in-demand speaker and presenter, and has lectured to such international groups as the Government Finance Officers Association and the National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems.

Mr. Dubbs has been extensively published, with several columns of corporate governance and securities class actions written for UK-based outlets to his credit, and is best-known for “Textualism and Transnational Securities Law: A Reappraisal of Justice Scalia’s Analysis in Morrison v. Australia National Bank,” published in the Southwestern Journal of International Law. Eminently qualified, he is a FINRA Arbitrator, a member of the advisory board for the Institute of Transnational Arbitration and is active in the American law Institute, where he serves as an advisor on the reinstatement of the law third. Outside of his legal work, Mr. Dubbs sits on the board of directors of the Sidney Hillman Foundation, a nonprofit that seeks to support progressive investigative journalism.
