In this post, she contributed to international arbitration matters, deepening her understanding of cross-border legal frameworks. That same year, Ms. Fernandez completed an internship with the International Chamber of Commerce, where she engaged in research and case analysis related to global commercial disputes.
In 2016, Ms. Fernandez was active as a summer legal intern at White & Case LLP, where she supported attorneys on high-profile cases and honed her skills in legal research and client advocacy. Earlier in her career, she worked as a paralegal at the Law Offices of Alex Hanna P.A. from 2010 to 2012, assisting with case preparation and client communications in immigration matters.
Ms. Fernandez began her career as a legal department associate at the Chamber of Commerce of Cuba from 2006 to 2007. She further refined her skill set as a notary assistant at Garland’s Notary Services from 2007 to 2008. These early positions provided her with essential insights into legal administration and regulatory compliance.
Ms. Fernandez’s academic achievements have been instrumental in shaping her career trajectory. She initially earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Havana in 2006. She subsequently obtained a Master of Laws in international arbitration and a Juris Doctor from the University of Miami School of Law in 2017. These credentials have enabled her to navigate both Cuban and United States legal systems effectively, culminating in her admission to practice by The Florida Bar in 2022.
Throughout her career, Ms. Fernandez has been celebrated for her dedication and excellence. She was presented with the CALI Excellence for the Future Awards in 2014. She was previously honored with the Graduate Student Teaching Award from the University of Havana in 2005. Her commitment to service extends beyond her professional responsibilities; since 2015, she has volunteered at the Pro-Bono Gala for the Cuban American Bar Association, supporting initiatives that benefit underserved communities.
Ms. Fernandez attributes her success to courage, persistence and a strong-minded approach to life’s challenges. She credits her values and vision—shared closely with her husband—and her passion for helping others as central motivators throughout her journey.
