His role encompasses counseling public and private organizations on an array of matters that cater to their unique corporate and business needs. These services include mergers and acquisitions, capital formation, entity formation, dissolutions and more. Mr. Whittenburg’s expertise in corporate law, Federal Communications Commission filings and handling data have been pivotal in shaping his success.
Besides his work at Jos. W. Whittenburg PC, Mr. Whittenburg has been the founder, vice president, and secretary of AerMill Solutions LLC since 2021. Also based in Houston, his consulting company was initially founded in 2001 and now serves as a digital office share for professionals, allowing them to combine their web presence and benefit from each other’s presence.
A career in law that began in accounting, Mr. Whittenburg was a staff auditor at Deloitte & Touche LLP from 1997 to 1999. He then became a senior associate at Enron Energy Services between 2000 and 2001. In addition to becoming fluent as an accountant, Mr. Whittenburg learned coding and rapid application development at Enron. Most notably, he can think analytically and translate those thoughts into syntax or code. After passing the bar, Mr. Whittenburg began his legal career at Boyar & Miller in 2005 before joining Strasbuger & Price LLP as an associate from 2008 to 2013.
More recently, Mr. Whittenburg excelled as a senior attorney at Oceaneering International Inc., a global technology company, between 2013 and 2021. His tenure involved successfully closing 20 deals totaling over $250 million and supporting the vice president of corporate development during the downturn in the oil market. Mr. Whittenburg was also influential in ensuring the vice president survived the ordeal and his subsequent lateral promotion to vice president of investor relations. He remains affiliated with Oceaneering as its outside counsel, with plans to expand his client base and network.
Mr. Whittenburg received a Bachelor of Arts in economics, with honors, from the University of Texas at Austin in 1997. That same year, he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting on campus. Subsequently, he garnered a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center in 2005. Mr. Whittenburg has been admitted to practice by the Texas Bar Association. He also holds credentials through the Texas Board of Public Accountancy as a certified public accountant.
Beyond his work endeavors, Mr. Whittenburg enjoys being active in his community through his church. He has also volunteered with Trees for Houston, a nonprofit organization that plants, protects and promotes trees in town.
