Suzanne Meyer Judas, Attorney at Holland & Knight Law LLP, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Legal Services.
Ms. Judas is a veteran attorney whose career has been marked by distinguished tenure and extensive expertise in transactional work in maritime law. Having worked with clients onboard ships, providing inspections, and engaging in litigation, she has garnered tremendous success representing matters involving oil spills, ship damage, injured shoremen and more. Spending the latter portion of her career with Holland & Knight LLP before retiring from her practice, she was initially hired on board as an attorney in 1992, served as a partner from 1998 to 2018, and as a hiring partner between 2000 and 2006. Ms. Judas began her career as an associate at Gabel & Hair in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1990, quickly advancing to become a partner from 1991 to 1998. When the firm merged with Holland & Knight LLP, she was fortunate to be recognized for her years of service.
Following her retirement from law, Ms. Judas spent another five years between 2018 and 2023 as a community outreach coordinator for the Jacksonville Federal Court Bar Association. Besides her primary career endeavors, she gained success and expertise in various other capacities, having served on multiple committees and boards, including the WJCT Channel 7 board of directors in 2007. She was also a contributor and editor for the Maritime Law and Practice of the Florida Bar and a contributor to the Holland & Knight LLP newsletter, The Florida Bar News. Moreover, Ms. Judas has spoken numerous times before various professional engagements.
Ms. Judas received a Bachelor of Arts in government from Jacksonville University in 1969 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence, with honors, from the University of Florida in 1990. She worked as a summer law clerk at Gabel Hair in 1988 and 1989 during her studies. Ms. Judas was admitted to practice by the Florida Bar Association, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. Throughout her career, Ms. Judas was very active in her professional community, serving in various roles for organizations such as the American Inns of Court and the Maritime Law Association of the U.S. Civically invested, her involvement in dozens of local and national organizations dating back to the early 1970s is a testament to her devotion to many community causes. Ms. Judas’s remarkable career and charitable work were recognized with many accolades, including being listed among the 80 Dolphins You Ought to Know by Jacksonville University.
