Reflecting on his path, in 1986, Mr. Kim graduated and began his career at a firm specializing in plaintiff personal injury litigation, located in the Empire State Building. A year later, he joined a larger law firm, an experience that inspired him to pursue law school. After completing his legal education, he established his own practice. Following the 9/11 tragedy, he chose to refocus his work, taking on more complex cases rather than routine ones. In 2015, he further revamped his practice to align with his evolving vision and expertise. His most notable achievement was representing victims of a 1997 airline crash in Guam. He traveled to Korea to meet with the victims and later facilitated their legal proceedings in California, an experience that was deeply meaningful and impactful.
Additionally, in 2013, Mr. Kim handled the tragic case of Amar Diarrassouba, a young boy struck by a truck near a school in New York City. The absence of a crossing guard and Amar’s older brother witnessing the accident added to the emotional weight of the case. Legal action was taken against the City of New York and the trucking company. The case gained attention in the New York Post and spurred New York senators to advocate for trucking companies to install protective devices for safer turns. Ultimately, a settlement was reached, with the funds benefiting Amar’s surviving brother.
In 2014, Mr. Kim represented the family of Brian Jacome, an elevator technician tragically killed by an elevator shaft while working. His younger brother, who witnessed the incident, faced challenges finding legal representation. he took on the case just before the statute of limitations expired, pursuing claims against the employer, property management, and owner. Further investigation revealed renovations to the elevators, leading to action against the manufacturer. In light of his impressive undertakings, he earned the Champion Award from the New Jersey State Bar Association in 2022 and 2023 and has been recognized by Martindale-Hubbell. He attributes his success to the unwavering support of his family. Looking to the future, he is working toward retirement, aspiring to leave a legacy of positive impact on the lives he has touched through his work.
