He also dedicates his time to the Knights of Columbus, the Nagawicka Lake Yacht Club, volunteers with a men’s group, and is a donor to various charities. Reflecting on his path, Mr. Rettko pursued his education at Drake University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing in 1982, followed by a Master of Business Administration in 1983, and a Juris Doctor in 1989. He is also a member of the Wisconsin Bar Association. Reflecting on his path, he initially started his career in the business world but soon realized he sought a more competitive and impactful path. Drawn to law, he saw it as an opportunity to directly help people and make a meaningful difference in their lives. One of his most notable achievements was representing 17 white male lieutenants in a reverse discrimination case against the City of Milwaukee, securing a $4.2 million verdict. Another notable victory came when he obtained a $1.5 million verdict for two employees of the Beloit Police Department.
Mr. Rettko attributes his success to the attorneys who hired and mentored him early in his career, as well as to his solid legal background and experience. He notes that his naturally competitive nature drives him to always do his best for his clients. A key factor in his professional growth has been his deep understanding of his clients’ situations and his unwavering commitment to achieving their goals. By focusing on their specific needs and persistently working towards their well-being and professional advancement, he says he has been able to significantly enhance both his effectiveness and his success in the legal field.
