Mr. Hakim is a partner at the law firm of Schwartz Sladkus Reich Greenberg Atlas LLP (SSRGA), a top law firm based in New York City, with offices on Long Island, New York, as well as in Boca Raton, Florida and Georgia. He returned to SSRGA in 2018, and, working out of the New York City office, he specializes in real estate law, primarily in the representation of cooperative and condominium boards on day-to-day matters. His extensive expertise in this area of law spans over 25 years, marked by the successful representation of many high-end buildings and also real estate developers, lenders, purchasers, sellers, landlords, tenants, and investors. Mr. Hakim has counseled these clients in various complex matters, from day-to-day matters to leasing and financing to acquisitions, sales/dispositions, development, corporate matters, and construction.
While committed to serving its clients with loyalty and integrity, SSRGA focuses on various practice areas, including cooperative and condominium board presentation, health care (including nursing homes), estate, intellectual property, labor and employment law, and general litigation work. Mr. Hakim is one of over 70 attorneys representing the firm.
Before joining SSRGA, Mr. Hakim was an attorney at Holland & Knight LLP in New York City as part of its real estate group, and prior to that with SSRGA’s predecessor firm, Wolf Haldenstein Adler Freeman & Herz LLP., where he also focused his practice on cooperative and condominium law, transactional real estate transactions.
In addition to providing his legal expertise to boards of cooperatives and condominium boards, Mr. Hakim regularly lectures on various matters relating to his practice, providing guidance to boards, managing agents and individuals. His proficiency in real estate cooperative and condominium law and recent trends has also permitted him to contribute to various professional publications, such as The New York Times, Habitat and The Cooperator. Part of Mr. Hakim’s ongoing success includes his membership in prominent legal organizations, such as the New York State Bar Association and The Association of the Bar of the City of New York. This affiliation allows him to remain aware of industry trends while networking with other legal professionals. Mr. Hakim has also been civically active with a local synagogue and donates to various causes that support cancer and Alzheimer’s research/support and to groups that provide for animals in need.
In preparation for his career, Mr. Hakim earned a Bachelor of Arts from Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York, followed by a Juris Doctor from St. John’s University in Queens, New York. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York.
Mr. Hakim credits much of his success to the incredible support of his incredible wife, Mandy, and his two amazing children, Benjamin and Marisa, and to all his wonderful dogs, past and present. Moreover, his ability to connect with his clients and truly understand and analyze their issues has been critical to his success. Mr. Hakim’s desire to work with them on a deeper level also fosters a passion for closer collaboration.
