With nearly two and a half decades of experience, Ms. Massey has built a successful career in legal services, specializing in family law. She currently serves as the principal attorney at SPM Law LLC, a firm she established in 2021. Prior to founding her own firm, she gained experience as an associate attorney at Turnbull, Nicholson & Sanders P.A. from 2020 to 2021 and Butler, McKeon & Associates PA from 2017 to 2020. She also served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Ronald A. Silkworth at the Circuit Court of Anne Arundel County and began her career with internships and fellowships at organizations such as the Office of the Public Defender Maryland and the Sayra and Neil Meyerhoff Center for Families, Children, and the Courts. Before transitioning into law, she worked in marketing and communications roles, including as a marketing communications specialist and EDI specialist.
Ms. Massey dedicates her time to various organizations, including the Anne Arundel County Bar Association and the Maryland State Bar Association since 2017, as well as the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Maryland and the Bar Association of Baltimore City since 2013. She also served as general director of the executive board for the South Asian Bar Association of Washington DC from 2021 to 2023 and chaired the Diversity & Inclusion Committee for the Baltimore County Bar Association in 2022. Her volunteer efforts include pro bono work with the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service and the Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland, along with participating in the Expungement Project for the Homeless Persons Representation Project. In light of her impressive undertakings, she was honored with multiple Rising Stars awards from Super Lawyers and has been a member of Mu Kappa Tau, the National Marketing Honor Society, since 2006.
Laying a solid educational foundation, Ms. Massey earned an Associate of Science in business, management, marketing, and related support services from Prince George’s Community College in 2006, followed by a Bachelor of Science in the same field from the University of Baltimore in 2006. She later obtained her Juris Doctor, with a certificate in family law, from the University of Baltimore School of Law, graduating cum laude in 2015, and is admitted to the Maryland Bar. She attributes her success to networking, believing that as an attorney, you are both your own brand and business. In the coming years, she aims to expand her practice, serve more clients, and eventually have someone manage the firm so she can focus on legal work and help more families. When advising aspiring professionals, she encourages them to pursue their aspirations relentlessly and to never let anyone deter them from their goals.
