A. Jared Silverman, Esq., attorney at the Law Offices of A. Jared Silverman, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in entrepreneurial law.
Bolstered by more than 60 years of professional experience across multiple fields, Mr. Silverman has established himself as an esteemed lawyer with a unique style to his practice. His method is informed by his past in the engineering industry, where he worked with Western Electric from 1963 to 1971. When Mr. Silverman transitioned into law, he discovered the strength of approaching legal situations the same way he would an engineering problem: considering each scenario as an interconnected system and determining how each part of that system potentially affects the outcome. He has also drawn on lessons learned from serving as the director of operations planning at the American Stock Exchange for two years. Mr. Silverman learned the fundamentals of the legal industry as an associate at Huber, Magill, Lawrence & Farrell for five years. He further backed up his credentials in economics and government affairs while contributing as a utilities and natural gas lawyer for the Federal Power Commission and an antitrust lawyer for AT&T.
Among his many achievements, Mr. Silverman is particularly proud of his time as the chief of the New Jersey Bureau of Securities. Holding this position for five years, he became one of the first public officials to identify the need for consumer warnings on the internet, even as the technology was new and poorly understood. Following his public service, Mr. Silverman founded his own company, the Law Offices of A. Jared Silverman, where he has practiced as an attorney since 1997. While employing his holistic approach, he specializes in legal issues related to technology, corporations, entrepreneurship and the internet. Mr. Silverman has built a reputation for advising startups on legal issues, as well as assisting organizations seeking international expansion. He also has demonstrated expertise in the legality of various financial transactions.
Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Silverman set a strong academic foundation, beginning with a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering at Columbia University in 1963. Subsequently, he obtained a Master of Science in operations research at The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science of Columbia University in 1965. Mr. Silverman returned to school in 1970 for a Juris Doctor from the New York Law School, followed by earning a Master of Laws in international legal studies from the New York University School of Law in 1975. He was admitted to the bar in New York in 1971.
Known for his contributions as a civic-minded citizen, Mr. Silverman offers strong support for causes he believes in and is a proponent of public service. He was an active member of the Jewish Federation of MetroWest New Jersey for nearly 25 years. Mr. Silverman ran for political office twice — for the New Jersey Senate in 2001 and for the United States House of Representatives in 2002. He attributes his professional accomplishments to his background in engineering and state regulation, as well as his focus on the needs of his clients.
Beyond his career, Mr. Silverman is a devoted partner, father to five and grandfather to four. In his free time, he enjoys writing about politics and economics, reading, studying history, traveling and photography. As the Law Offices of A. Jared Silverman nears its 30th anniversary, Mr. Silverman looks forward to continuing to operate his practice with a high degree of quality. He still finds great fulfillment in his work and has no intention of slowing down.
