Heather M. Aby, Partner at Aby Law, PLLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the law.
Hoping to help children and families, Ms. Aby decided to pursue a career in family law. In 1999, she graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science in psychology, which was followed by a Juris Doctor from Mississippi College in 2002. That same year, she was certified to practice law in the state of Mississippi. Later, in 2013, Ms. Aby returned to school, earning an LLM in taxation from the University of Alabama.
Ms. Aby began her career as an attorney with Butler, Snow, OMara, Stevens, and Cannada, PLLC in 2002. Remaining there until 2005, she went on to work with Maxey Wann, PLLC before becoming a public defender for Madison County. Ms. Aby remains in that role today, alongside her more recent venture as a partner with Aby Law, which came to fruition following her time as a partner at Lalor Bailey & Aby. She additionally volunteers in her spare time to work on pro-bono cases involving adoption and immigration. Outside of her legal ventures, Ms. Aby has served as the owner of the Hattiesburg Black Sox Baseball Club since 2011.
As a testament to her success, Ms. Aby is listed among the Top 10 Family Attorneys Under 40 in Mississippi. Rated as AV-Preeminent for five years, she was named as the Business Woman of the Year in 2011. More recently, in both 2019 and 2020, Ms. Aby was named as a National Advocate among the Top 100 Family Law Attorneys. She maintains affiliation with the Mississippi Bar Association, the Mississippi Women Lawyers Association, and the Rankin County and Madison County Bar Associations. Looking toward the future, Ms. Aby hopes to continue to be successful. She is excited for her daughter, Tanner, to one day join her in legal practice.
