Mr. Newman became involved in his profession because his other graduate work was accounting and he wanted to be able to help others beyond crunching numbers. In addition, many lawyers didn’t want to practice matrimonial law and when he was still fresh out of law school, they would refer those cases to him and as a result, he was able to grow in the business. Mr. Newman has been a managing partner and attorney at Newman & Denney P.C. since 2010 and has received a Martindale-Hubbard AV Ratings Award.
Pursuing an education from Queens College, Mr. Newman graduated with a Bachelor of Science in accounting before receiving a Doctor of Jurisprudence from New York Law School in 1967. He has been admitted to practice by the New York State Bar Association, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
A contributor to numerous professional journals, presentations, publications, and appearances, Mr. Newman attributes his success to seeing clients at their worst and being able to make them feel special while helping them. Outside of his immediate professional responsibilities, Mr.Newman is active with the Family Law Committee, the Matrimonial Law Committee, and the New York County Lawyers Association. Notably, he has made media appearances for matrimonial topics on “Larry King Live,” CNN News, CBS News, NBC News, and various radio talk shows. To those looking to enter the field, Mr. Newman offers the advice to be prepared to give a good deal of themselves to the clients because, at a client’s worst moments, their lawyer becomes everything to them.
