Mr. Griffin is a celebrated educator who has specialized in law for nearly 50 years. Serving as a professor of law in the College of Law at Florida A&M University since 2011, he previously worked at Washburn University as a professor of law from 1981 to 2011, when he ultimately reached emeritus status. Prior to these appointments, he was an assistant professor of law at the University of Oregon and assistant corporate counsel for the Government of D.C. between 1970 and 1978. Alongside his primary endeavors, he was a visiting professor at the University of Ghana in 2006 and the University of Notre Dame from 1981 to 1982, having also been a visiting scholar at Queen’s University in Canada in 1988. Equally passionate about his community and philanthropic deeds, he was a delegate to the People to People Ambassador Program for global climate change and environmental science in the People’s Republic of China and on the board of directors and as chairman of the Midwest People of Color Legal Scholarship Conference.

Mr. Griffin holds a Bachelor of Science from Hampton University, a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Howard University, and a Master of Laws from the University of Virginia. He has been admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia and Kansas, as well as before the U.S. Supreme Court. While obtaining his degrees, he served in the Judge Advocate General Corps of the U.S. Army. He has also contributed myriad articles to professional journals in his field of expertise.

In recognition of his exceptional contributions to law and education, Mr. Griffin was named William O. Douglas Outstanding Professor of the Year from 1985 to 1986 and again from 1994 to 1995. He received a fellowship from the Parker School of Foreign and Comparative Law from Columbia University in 1981, having subsequently received a grant from Kilne Sabbatical Research in Japan in 1985. In addition, he is a grantee of the Rockefeller Foundation with Howard University. He has been highlighted in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the Midwest, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
