Mr. Tanenbaum began his career as a shoeshiner at the Saratoga racetrack at the age of 9, and he spent his childhood helping his father with fruits and vegetables in the market. At the age of 16, he bought his first car, and began driving to college. He first studied at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in 1954 at the age of 19. He then joined Union College, earning a Bachelor of Laws in 1957 and a Juris Doctor in 1961.
Mr. Tanenbaum has been admitted to practice in the state of New York, as well as before the United States Supreme Court and the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the New York Trial Lawyers Association, the Bronx County Bar Association, the St. James Club, and Le Club.
Throughout his career, Mr. Tanenbaum has been recognized for his contributions, including having been knighted by His Royal Highness The Prince of Cittanova and His Royal Highness The Prince of Trabzon. He has been featured in numerous editions of Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, and Who’s Who in the East, and he was the recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement.
