Christy F. Mr. Harris has more than 48 years of professional experience in his profession. He focuses his practice on business and personal transactional law, which includes matters of commercial transactions, contracts, forming and counselling corporate and business entities in all business-related matters. In addition, he provides individual clients legal services regarding estate and trust administration, estate planning and real estate transactions. For 33 years, he practiced in Lakeland, FL, where he served with prominent law firms including Peters & Myers from 2000 to 2003, Harris, Midyette, Geary, Darby & Morrell, P.A., from 1976 to 2000, Canan & Harris P.A. from 1974 to 1976, and Holland & Knight LLP from 1970 to 1974. In 2003, Mr. Harris moved to Daytona Beach, FL, where he has been engaged as “Of Counsel” to Kinsey, Vincent, Pyle, P.L. Mr. Harris also served as an officer in the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve from 1968 through 1977, with active duty from 1970 to 1973 as a Judge Advocate, Assistant Staff Judge Advocate and Special Courts Martial Military Judge.
To prepare for a career in law, Mr. Harris first earned an Associate of Arts from the Oxford College of Emory University in 1965, a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Florida in 1967, and a JD from the Levin College of Law at the University of Florida in 1970, with honors. During his education, he earned admission to the honorary societies of Alpha Epsilon Upsilon, Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi and Order of the Coif. During his career, he has been a member and Chairman of the 10th Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee and a member of the Florida Bar, the Lakeland Bar Association and the Volusia County Bar Association. He has maintained an “AV Preeminent” Peer Review rating with Martindale-Hubbell since 1981. He has also been a member of Attorneys’ Title Fund Services, LLC since 1976.
In his free time, Mr. Harris is active in the motorsports industry, and has served on the Board of Directors of the International Speedway Corporation for more than 34 years. He is a member of the Automobile Competition Committee for the United States, Federation Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) and is a Judge of the FIA International Tribunal and International Court of Appeals for Motorsports. Mr. Harris also served as a Managing Board Member of AMA Pro Racing from 2009 until 2012. Mr. Harris is also an art collector enjoys boating and sport fishing, when time permits.
In recognition of his professional excellence, Mr. Harris was also named to the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels in 1974. Additionally, he was featured in Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America. Mr. Harris also received the Albert Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquis in 2017.
As he looks to the future, Mr. Harris intends to continue working in the areas of law mentioned above and, when not engaged in the field of law, to enjoy his chosen leisure pursuits.
