Joshua R. Kemme, Esq., Associate Attorney at O’Connor Acciani & Levy, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Personal Injury Litigation.
Mr. Kemme has distinguished himself as an expert in personal injury litigation, consistently demonstrating a deep commitment to his clients and the legal profession. Since joining O’Connor Acciani & Levy in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 2021 as an associate attorney, he has managed a demanding caseload of approximately 200 clients. Mr. Kemme’s responsibilities encompass every phase of the legal process, from initial injury assessment through resolution. He handles pre-litigation negotiations, prepares and files legal complaints, initiates lawsuits when necessary, and conducts all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions and court appearances. Mr. Kemme also represents clients at trial and manages post-trial processes such as appeals, ensuring that each case receives comprehensive attention from inception to conclusion.
One of the defining moments in Mr. Kemme’s career occurred early in his tenure as a trial attorney. In only his second case before a jury, he represented a client who suffered severe and permanent back injuries following an accident involving a State Farm policyholder. Despite an initial settlement offer of $15,000 from the insurer, an amount insufficient to cover medical expenses, Mr. Kemme proceeded to trial. After three days of proceedings, the jury awarded his client $225,000. This result stands as one of his most rewarding professional achievements and underscores his ability to secure meaningful outcomes for those he represents.
Mr. Kemme’s unwavering dedication is further exemplified by his willingness to invest significant time and effort into each case. He routinely works 12- to 14-hour days when required, particularly during trial preparation or complex litigation phases. Mr. Kemme approaches these demands with enthusiasm rather than reluctance, finding fulfillment in the challenges inherent to his field. This exceptional work ethic and passion for advocacy have set him apart among peers and contributed to numerous successful settlements.
Before joining his firm, Mr. Kemme served as an eDiscovery attorney at Dauntless Discovery in West Chester, Ohio, a company based in Raleigh, North Carolina, that specializes in eDiscovery services, in 2021. In this capacity, he honed his skills in managing electronic evidence and supporting litigation teams with document review and analysis. This foundation proved invaluable as he advanced into more complex legal practice.
From 2019 to 2021, Mr. Kemme was a personal injury legal assistant at Gregory S. Young Co., LPA, in Cincinnati. There, he gained firsthand experience supporting attorneys with case management and client communications while developing a keen understanding of the nuances involved in personal injury law.
Before earning a law degree, Mr. Kemme served as a law clerk for Michael Monce, Attorney at Law, from 2018 to 2019, where he worked on Social Security disability matters. He also completed clerkships at both Rathbone Group, LLC, and Richards & Associates in 2017, gaining exposure to insurance subrogation and foreclosure law.
Throughout his academic career, Mr. Kemme has demonstrated both diligence and ambition. He completed a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice at Northern Kentucky University in 2017 after initially intending to pursue law enforcement. A pivotal moment occurred during Mr. Kemme’s junior year of undergraduate study when an adviser informed him about an accelerated program allowing qualified students early entry into law school upon completion of sufficient credits. This opportunity enabled him to bypass his senior year and embark on legal studies sooner than anticipated. Mr. Kemme acquired a Doctor of Jurisprudence, summa cum laude, in 2019 from Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, Kentucky.
Active involvement in professional organizations has further enriched Mr. Kemme’s development as an attorney. He is affiliated with the Ohio Association for Justice, the Cincinnati Bar Association and the Southwest Ohio Trial Lawyers Association, groups that provide ongoing education and networking opportunities within the legal community. During law school, Mr. Kemme was a member of the Northern Kentucky Law Review and participated in the Salmon P. Chase Inn of Court at the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University.
Beyond memberships, Mr. Kemme is committed to civic engagement. Most notably, he enjoys participating in and donating to various charity organizations, demonstrating a broader sense of responsibility toward community well-being.
Mr. Kemme’s professional approach is characterized by tenacity and steadfastness, qualities he hopes will define his professional legacy. Known for standing firm on matters of principle while maintaining collegiality with opposing counsel, he is resolute in advocating for clients’ interests even under challenging circumstances.
Recognition for Mr. Kemme’s accomplishments includes being nominated for the 40 Under 40 Trial Lawyers award in 2025, a reflection of his impact within the profession at an early stage in his career. He attributes much of his success to self-motivation rather than traditional mentorship but acknowledges that supportive colleagues provided valuable guidance during formative stages at O’Connor Acciani & Levy.
Mr. Kemme’s journey reflects not only expertise in personal injury litigation but also a profound dedication to service. These qualities have earned him recognition among peers and lasting gratitude from those he represents. Looking ahead, Mr. Kemme aspires to advance substantially within the field by continuing to take cases to trial and striving for partnership status. His long-term vision centers on upholding justice against powerful adversaries while remaining true to the values that have guided him thus far.
