He earned a Bachelor of Science in international finance and political science from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, in 1995, followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence on campus in 1998. During law school, Mr. Yorgason clerked in both federal and local district courts, experiences that exposed him to exemplary mentors who modeled integrity and reinforced the importance of ethical practice.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Yorgason is an active member of several professional organizations. He serves as the treasurer for the Idaho Mediation Association. A fourth-generation Idahoan born at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, Mr. Yorgason values family heritage and community involvement deeply. His civic engagement includes serving as a board member for Cantus Youth Choirs since 2009 and being an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Among Mr. Yorgason’s most notable professional achievements has been his enduring influence on Idaho’s charter school laws over more than two decades. He became involved in charter school law in 2003, where he was invited the following year to participate in a major legislative rewrite that led to the creation of the Idaho Charter School Commission. As one of the few attorneys present during these pivotal discussions, Mr. Yorgason played a key role in drafting and reviewing critical documents that shaped statewide policy. He contributed again during significant rewrites in 2012 and 2024, demonstrating sustained leadership and expertise in this area.
Mediation has been another area of focus for Mr. Yorgason throughout his career. He has observed that mediation assignments are often concentrated among senior judges and experienced lawyers when ordered by courts in Idaho. While much of his mediation work centers on family law matters, Mr. Yorgason has expressed interest in expanding into special education mediation despite institutional preferences for non-lawyer mediators.
Mr. Yorgason’s contributions have been recognized through honors such as being named among Lawyers of Distinction since 2023 and Leaders in Law by Idaho Business Review in 2025.
