Mr. Moussavi’s expertise in navigating evolving investment strategies ensures his clients remain competitive in an ever-changing environment. His involvement with industry leaders who shape market trends also positions him at the forefront of financial innovation.
Promoted to counsel after initially garnering success as a private funds associate at his firm from 2015 to 2024, Mr. Moussavi refined his skills in asset management counsel and fund formation, contributing significantly to the firm’s success. His meticulous approach to legal frameworks was exemplified when he played a foundational role in shaping a client’s business from its inception, ultimately saving millions during a complex merger-separation process.
From 2016 to 2017, Mr. Moussavi achieved success as a legal secondee at Apollo Global Management LLC, a New York City-based high-growth global alternative asset manager. This experience provided him with invaluable insights into the inner workings of a leading global alternative investment manager, enhancing his proficiency in all operational aspects of an alternative asset manager.
Mr. Moussavi’s career began with several roles that laid the groundwork for his future success. As a summer associate at his current firm in 2014 and a research assistant at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law in 2012, he developed a strong foundation in legal research and practice. Earlier roles included serving as a mathematics and French instructor at Cutting Edge Tutoring and holding leadership positions with AIESEC HEC as the director of relations and AIESEC UBC as the vice president of corporate development, dating back to 2008.
An academic journey marked by notable achievements, Mr. Moussavi earned a Bachelor of Commerce, with honors, from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver in 2010, followed by a Master of Business Administration from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto in 2015 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Toronto. These educational experiences have equipped him with the analytical reasoning and emotional intelligence necessary for success in the legal industry.

Looking ahead, Mr. Moussavi aspires to either become a partner at his practice or serve as a general counsel at a leading asset management firm specializing in multi-strategy investments. He attributes his success thus far to his strong emotional intelligence, which he believes sets him apart from many of his colleagues and peers in the legal industry. While law often prioritizes intellectual ability and analytical reasoning, Mr. Moussavi recognizes the value of empathy and active listening in building trust and understanding.
