Ben M. Henschel, Shareholder at Henschel Moberg, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Legal Services.
Mr. Henschel is lauded for his contributions to the legal field as a seasoned and sought-after attorney, founding partner and shareholder who has represented Henschel Moberg in the Greater Minneapolis-Saint Paul area since 2011. Specializing in family law disputes, he has garnered a reputation for his success in negotiating settlements and successfully trying dissolutions for numerous wealthy clients. Additionally, Mr. Henschel has excelled as a qualified mediator, neutral evaluator and court-appointed special master for a multitude of family law proceedings.
Initially gravitating toward a career in law after working as a probation officer for over a decade, Mr. Henschel was inspired by the legal process. Having spent much of his time in court, he began to appreciate the role attorneys play in upholding the law, ultimately leading him to pursue a law degree and pivot into the legal field.
After serving as a law clerk for the Minnesota State Court and the Hennepin County District Court, Mr. Henschel was acquired by Moss & Barnett PA in Minneapolis in 1999 as an associate attorney. There, he focused his practice on family law, representing high-net-worth individuals and business owners. In 2002, Mr. Henschel was named a shareholder of the firm, where he remained until 2010.
In preparation for his legal career, Mr. Henschel received a Bachelor of Science in psychology with a minor in philosophy from Saint John’s University in Minnesota in 1986. Subsequently, he garnered a Doctor of Jurisprudence, cum laude, from the University of Minnesota in 1991.
Mr. Henschel is an elected fellow and past president of the Minnesota chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He is also active in the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, the Minnesota State Bar Association and the Hennepin County Bar Association. Aside from these memberships, Mr. Henschel has been affiliated with a local pro bono program in Hennepin County, Minnesota, and another local alternative dispute resolution program.
Mr. Henschel’s expertise in family law and complex financial divorce matters, as well as his ability to cross-examine experts, have been pivotal to his success. Among his most notable accomplishments, he was involved in the published Minnesota Supreme Court case “IN RE: The Marriage of Janis Edwards GOTTSACKER” in 2003. Mr. Henschel has also been recognized with several accolades, including recognition as a Super Lawyer every year since 2003, in Best Lawyers every year since 2006, as a Minnesota Top 100 Super Lawyer every year since 2012, and as the Attorney of the Year for Family Law by Best Lawyers in 2016. However, his most notable accomplishment was establishing a thriving attorney practice, where he continues to work alongside 10 other prominent, hard-working lawyers who are experts in their field.
Grateful for his hard work, Mr. Henschel attributes his success to his ability to connect with clients and help them through their most difficult times. Eager to continue positioning Henschel Moberg to continue operating long after he retires, he also intends to focus more on alternative dispute resolution, including Consensual Special Magistrate assignments and arbitration.
