Newton M. Galloway, Partner at Galloway & Lyndall, LLP, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in business and environmental law.

With nearly 45 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Galloway has found much success throughout a distinguished career marked by significant contributions to telecommunications, solar energy, and zoning and development in Georgia. As a partner at Galloway & Lyndall, LLP for the past 25 years, he holds primary administrative responsibility for managing the firm’s operations. His work involves engaging with regulated industries and utilities before the Georgia Public Service Commission, where he has played a pivotal role in the state implementation of telecom deregulation. His efforts have been instrumental in preserving Georgia’s Universal Service Fund and introducing competitive bidding for solar projects, elevating the state to ninth in the nation for utility-scale solar deployments.

Mr. Galloway’s legal career began at Greene, Buckley, DeRieux and Jones in Atlanta, Georgia, where he served as an attorney from 1981 to 1988. During this time, he simultaneously honed his skills in representing municipal gas systems and natural gas marketers, focusing on statutes deregulating the state’s natural gas market. His early experiences as a clerk at both the Georgia Department of Law and Harris, Watkins, Davis and Chambless in Macon, Georgia provided him with a solid foundation in legal practice.

Before embarking upon his professional path, Mr. Galloway pursued a formal education at Mercer University, from which he obtained a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in 1978. He subsequently concluded his studies by graduating with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in 1981. His academic achievements laid the groundwork for his successful legal career, enabling him to gain admission to several prestigious courts including the United States Supreme Court and various district courts across Georgia.

Throughout his career, Mr. Galloway has been an active member of several industry-related organizations such as Sigma Mu, the Energy Bar Association, the Federal Communications Bar Association, the Griffin Circuit Bar Association, and the Spalding County Bar Association. These affiliations have allowed him to remain up-to-date regarding developments within his field and contribute to ongoing discussions about energy and communications law.

In addition to his primary accomplishments, Mr. Galloway is deeply devoted to civic engagement. He supports art entities within his community and has been hands-on with his involvement in the redevelopment of Griffin’s Rosenwald School. His dedication to excellence within his field is further evidenced by his recognition as a Super Lawyer. His passion for history-related travel, camping, and road biking reflects his appreciation for exploration and discovery beyond his professional responsibilities.

Mr. Galloway attributes his success to a steadfast commitment to fairness and credibility in all professional endeavors. He emphasizes the importance of adhering to facts and evidence while avoiding situational ethics that can lead to inconsistent rule application based on personal biases. Inspired by a professor’s advice about developing a “crap detector,” he values critical thinking and responsibility as essential traits for navigating challenges.

In the coming years, Mr. Galloway hopes to remain dedicated to addressing housing-related issues, homeownership, and equity in Griffin and Spalding County. He is committed to finding thoughtful solutions that serve the greater good while managing resources responsibly to ensure a sustainable future.
