Mr. Gallo, of Gallo Law LLC in Hartford, Wisconsin, has been at the helm of his prominent law firm since 2022. Leading his full-service law firm with a particular focus on environmental law, he brings over 25 years of distinguished legal experience and over four decades of expertise in environmental engineering. Representing the industry in litigation, regulatory compliance and permitting matters, Mr. Gallo is respected for his knowledge of a myriad of environmental issues. Additionally, he has become well-versed in helping clients secure state and federal brownfield grants, zero-interest loan funding and insurance coverage for environmental cleanups.
As a leader in his field, Mr. Gallo plays a significant role in representing the polyurethane industry internationally, serving as a legal counsel for the Polyurethane Manufacturers Association, a leading trade association. Mr. Gallo has been the association’s legal counsel for over 35 years. In addition to his contributions there, he represents other industry associations, including thermoplastic resin manufacturers, metal platers, dye casters, chemical manufacturers and solid waste management facilities.
Mr. Gallo gained earlier recognition at Axley Brynelson LLP in Madison, Wisconsin, where he worked from 2018 to 2023. He was also an attorney at Husch Blackwell LLP in Waukesha, Wisconsin, between 2016 and 2018. Moreover, Mr. Gallow held attorney roles at Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek SC (now Husch Blackwell LLP) from 2015 to 2016 and at Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren SC between 2009 and 2015.
Besides his successful legal career, Mr. Gallo excelled in the classroom for over 30 years. He taught environmental law for engineers at the Milwaukee School of Engineering and a course called Ethics for Engineers at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Mr. Gallo possesses a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Tri-State University (now Trine University) in Angola, Indiana, since 1975, a Master of Science in chemical engineering from the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio, since 1977, and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Marquette University in Milwaukee since 1990. His education has been instrumental in his diverse capabilities as a leading environmental lawyer.
In addition to his degrees, Mr. Gallo has remained abreast of industry trends through his membership in several significant professional organizations. He is active in the American Bar Association’s environmental, energy and resources section. He is also a member of the American Law Institute, the National Groundwater Association, the American Water Works Association and the National Association of Metal Finishers.
Besides his vested interest in his practice, Mr. Gallo engages with local organizations. He is a past president of Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful and the president of Tall Pines Conservancy, a nonprofit organization founded in 1999 to protect local farmland, water and open spaces in the Lake County region and beyond.
Mr. Gallo’s dedication and hard work have been recognized numerous times within the industry. He was lauded for his contributions to environmental law among the Best Lawyers in America by Best Lawyers every year between 2010 and 2014. He was also named a Super Lawyer every year from 2012 to 2024. Furthermore, he was named an Environmental Game Changer by MKE Lifestyle in 2019, a Leader in the Law by the Wisconsin Law Journal in 2019, among America’s Most Honored Lawyers by The American Registry in 2022 and with a Lawyers of Distinction recognition in 2024.
Aside from these accolades, Mr. Gallo is grateful for his career accomplishments in the field. Most notably, he successfully managed the insurance coverage for numerous environmental cleanup projects, which have resulted in million-dollar recoveries. He has overseen the cleanup of over 100 sites, specifically addressing environmental issues involving petroleum, chlorinated solvents, PCPs, E5 chemicals and wood-preserving chemicals.
