Leveraging his decades of expertise, Mr. Farrell has handled some of the most complex cases, winning hundreds before state and federal courts in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Staten Island, Queens, Westchester County and Nassau County.

Before establishing his thriving law firm, Mr. Farrell spent over five years as an assistant district attorney for the Brooklyn District Attorney’s (DA’s) Office from 1987 to 1994. During his tenure, he served as a senior trial attorney for the homicide division between 1990 and 1993 and as the deputy bureau chief for the investigations bureau from 1993 to 1994. These opportunities set the foundation for his future success as a respected criminal defense attorney in New York.

In preparation for his legal career, Mr. Farrell graduated from the University of Albany with a Bachelor of Arts in 1983 before earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Buffalo in 1986. In addition to his degrees, Mr. Farrell remains active as a prominent member of several industry-related organizations, such as the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the New York State Defenders Association. He is also a member and past president of the Kings County Criminal Bar Association.

With a career marked by significant accomplishments, Mr. Farrell has been recognized several times for his tireless work ethic and tenacity in the courtroom. In 2019, New York Magazine named him among the Top-Rated Criminal Defense Attorneys. He was also named to the National Trial Lawyers Top 100 and was recognized as the Person of the Year by the Kings County Criminal Bar Association.

Grateful for his continued success, Mr. Farrell credits one of his mentors, who taught him a lot about the legal process while he was interning as a law student in a federal jail. When he secured a position with the DA’s office, he continued to provide Mr. Farrell with insight and expertise, ultimately working alongside him on several cases together years later.

Mr. Farrell’s work as a trial lawyer has involved helping numerous clients during their time in need when faced with misdemeanors, felonies, federal crimes and white-collar crimes. Although some of his clients are guilty of their crimes, he stresses the importance of recognizing that most of them are good people who just made poor choices. Because of this, Mr. Farrell draws continuous inspiration from his work, knowing that it is his duty to represent them with the utmost professionalism and secure the best outcomes for their futures.
