He currently serves as a named shareholder at Waddell Serafino Geary Rechner Jenevein PC, a role he has held since 2007. Waddell Serafino Geary Rechner Jenevein PC is a law firm specializing in business mediation, arbitration, and litigation. They handle complex legal matters, offering expertise in resolving disputes through effective negotiation and cost-efficient legal strategies. They have offices in Dallas, Phoenix, and Las Vegas. His previous experience includes positions with Vial Hamilton Koch & Knox in 2005, and as a former judge in Dallas County, TX from 1999 to 2002. He also worked as an associate at Haynes and Boone, LLP from 1991 to 1993. In addition to his legal practice, he has served as an adjunct professor in the Master of Business A program at Cox Business School, Southern Methodist University since 2020. He is a panelist for both judicial workplace arbitration and the American Arbitration Association.
Mr. Jenevein is also active in community service, dedicating time to Literacy Volunteers of America, a nonprofit organization that focuses on providing literacy education to adults who need assistance in reading, writing, and speaking English. Additionally, one of his major accomplishments was being elected as the presiding judge at the Dallas County Court of Law. In light of his impressive undertakings, he was voted one of Dallas’ Best Lawyers by D Magazine for five years and receiving recognition from the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals. He laid a solid educational foundation, completing coursework in politics and economics at St. Marks School in 1980, a Bachelor of Science in Canadian Government and Politics from Washington and Lee University in 1984, and a Juris Doctor from the School of Law at Texas Tech University in 1991. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Dallas Bar Association.
Reflecting on his path, Mr. Jenevein’s takes great pride in prevailing in an arbitration against the People’s Republic of China. He successfully demonstrated that several state-owned entities were alter egos of one another, leading to an arbitration award of approximately $70 million for him and his team. This award was upheld in federal court and by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans. Although they applied for a review by the U.S. Supreme Court, the Court declined to take up the case. Another significant career highlight was being one of two lawyers who successfully invalidated a mayoral election due to voter fraud.
Mr. Jenevein attributes his success to having a thirst for justice. He has been fortunate to have some great mentors who cared for him and took him under their wing, including Richard Haynes, the founder of the Haynes and Boone law firm. In the coming years, he hopes to continue assisting individuals and mediating from his lake house via Zoom. He believes he has the best job in the legal profession, so he hopes to be doing exactly what he is doing as long as he can.
