Bob Dreher, Legal Director at Potomac Riverkeeper Network, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in environmental and natural resources law.
With four decades of experience, Mr. Dreher has thrived as the Potomac Riverkeeper Network’s legal director since 2022. He has also held the positions of consultant and legal counsel since 2021. Previously, he was senior vice president of the Conservation Programs of the Defenders of Wildlife from 2016 to 2021, associate director of the U.S Fish and Wildlife Service from 2014 to 2016, and acting assistant attorney general for the Environment and Natural Resources Division of the U.S. Department of Justice from 2013 to 2014. Mr. Dreher chose environmental law because he is passionate about the field. His current position focuses on providing strategic counsel and legal representation to conservation organizations.
Before entering his profession, Mr. Dreher earned a Bachelor’s Degree in American history and literature from Harvard University in 1973. He then received a Master of Arts in United States studies and civilization from Brown University in 1978. Continuing with his education, he earned a Juris Doctorate from Yale Law School in 1981. Upon completing his education, Mr. Dreher was inducted as a member of The District of Columbia Bar. Mr. Dreher is most proud of successfully representing the Virgin Islands Conservation Society in creating a new national park in Saint Croix. Looking toward the future, Mr. Dreher will continue his work with the Potomac Riverkeeper Network and consulting. Environmental and natural resource issues are important to him, and he wants to continue fighting for those issues.
