She has served as an attorney at the same practice since 1995, previously known as Huelskamp & Huelskamp and later Huelskamp & Associates.

Ms. Huelskamp’s legal expertise spans criminal law, civil law, immigration law, and family law. Practicing law in Indianapolis since 1996, she attends bench trials and court trials, as well as depositions. She also manages appointments and handles administrative work, ensuring everything runs smoothly. 

Before her legal career, Ms. Huelskamp began her professional journey with four years of service in the U.S. Air Force, joining at the age of 18. Stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi, she worked in the admin squadron. Additionally, she has experience as a teacher in Japan and Hawaii.

Ms. Huelskamp set a solid foundation for her subsequent career by earning a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from the University of Mary Washington. She later completed her Juris Doctor at the Robert H. McKinney School of Law, Indiana University Indianapolis 1995. She is admitted to practice law in both Indiana and Alabama.

Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Ms. Huelskamp has been actively involved with several organizations, including the National Kidney Foundation Inc., The Cancer Foundation, the Wheeler Mission, and the Cesar Chavez Foundation. She also holds memberships with the Indiana State Bar Association and the Indiana Public Defender Council.

Ms. Huelskamp’s dedication to her profession has been recognized through numerous awards, including Lawyers of Distinction in Criminal Defense, which she earned in 2017 and 2018, and the 10 Best Family Law Attorney in the State in 2016. She was also named one of the 10 Best Female Attorneys in the State in 2015.

A significant highlight of Ms. Huelskamp’s career was taking over her husband’s practice after his passing in 2013. Together, they started Huelskamp & Huelskamp, later renamed Huelskamp & Associates. In 2022, she took on a partner, and the firm became Huelskamp & Rivas PC. Her husband, a decorated Marine, left a legacy she aspires to uphold and expand. Under her leadership, the practice grew to four times its original size, now employing a team of four additional attorneys. Additionally, she takes pride in serving as a public defender, handling contract work since 2004, where she assists those who cannot afford private legal representation.

Ms. Huelskamp attributes her success to providing fair and reasonable services to clients, maintaining open communication, and being easily accessible. Looking ahead, she aims to expand her business and is considering branching out into civil and immigration law. Her commitment to her field and community remains steadfast as she continues to make a significant impact in the legal arena.
