At St. Mary’s University School of Law, he served as an associate editor on the editorial board and as a staff writer of “The Scholar: Law Review on Race and Social Justice” in 2018. Before embarking on his professional path, he pursued an education at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration, magna cum laude in 2015. He concluded his studies at St. Mary’s University School of Law, graduating with a Juris Doctorate in 2018.
Mr. Gilmore has been admitted to practice law before the United States Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals Fifth Circuit, the U.S. District Court of the Northern District of Texas, the Eastern District of Texas, the Southern District of Texas, and the Western District of Texas. He has been licensed to practice law by the State Bar of Texas. Beyond his responsibilities within the field, he has participated in numerous endeavors outside of his professional circles. He contributed to the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association as the voice for the defense, an assistant editor, and a member of the law school committee. He donated to the San Antonio Food Bank.
In addition to his primary vocation, Mr. Gilmore remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He was a member of the International Society for the Reform of Criminal Law, the William S. Sessions American Inn of Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals Fifth Circuit, the U.S. District Court of the Northern, Eastern, Southern, and Western Districts of Texas, the Texas Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the San Antonio Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, the San Antonio Bar Association, the National Trial Lawyers, the Coastal Bend Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, and the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws. He was also a board member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Gilmore has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was recognized as a rising star and a top criminal defense lawyer by Scene Magazine, among the Top 100 and the 40 under 40 by National Trial Lawyers. In the immediate future, he intends to initiate significant change within the criminal justice system in Texas and nationally.
