Burton Tillman, Founding Partner of Burton L. Tillman, PC, dba Tillman and Associates, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in mediation.
With nearly 35 years of professional experience, Mr. Tillman has been the founding partner of Burton L. Tillman, PC, dba Tillman and Associates since 1991. In addition to his primary role, he has been an attorney and the founder of Mediated Resolutions, LLC, since 2017, and an attorney and the founder of Mediated Dispute Resolutions, LLC, from 2008 to 2017. From 1987 to 1991, he was a partner with Buchanan and Tillman, and he was an attorney with Insurance Defense Litigation for 11 years. Earlier in his career, he was in defense practice with Bovis, Kyle, Burch, and Medlin, LLC.
Mr. Tillman was inspired to pursue a career in the field by his father, who was also a lawyer. He first pursued an education with Emory University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1971. He continued his studies with the University of Georgia School of Law, earning a Juris Doctor in 1979. He has been admitted to practice in the state of Georgia and he is a certified mediator and arbitrator with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution.
A respected voice in his areas of interest, Mr. Tillman has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. He is a member of the Atlanta Bar Association, the Georgia Bar Association, and the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association. He has also been active with the American Association for Justice, the Lowndes County Historical Society, and the American Bar Association. He is a former teacher and mediator for the Shambhala Meditation Center of Atlanta.
Throughout his career, Mr. Tillman has been recognized for his contributions. He has been named Workers’ Compensation Attorney of the Year, one of America’s Top 100 Lawyers, and among Georgia’s Top Lawyers by Atlanta Magazine. Round Table Magazine named him Mediator of the Year and gave him a Certificate of Achievement, and the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals named him a Top 100 Diplomat. A Top 100 Registry Professional of the Year, he receiving a Howard Osofsky Award. He has been inducted into the American College of Workers Compensation Lawyers and the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, and he is a fellow of the National College of Workers Compensation Lawyers. He has been featured in numerous honors publications including Who’s Who in America Law.
