Drawing upon more than 55 years of professional experience, Mr. Wood is a reputable lawyer who commenced his career as a staff assistant for the United States Senate in Washington, DC, from 1961 to 1962. After this prestigious role, he was a teacher and coach at the Fay School in Southborough, MA, from 1964 to 1970, subsequently becoming co-chair of the minority recruitment program from 1968 to 1970. Soon thereafter, he became a teacher and coach at the Bancroft School in Worcester, MA, from 1970 to 1978, having later served as chair of the history department from 1977 to 1978. Most recently, he held the role of lawyer in a private practice from 1978 until his retirement in 2018.

Equally passionate about his community, Mr. Wood was on the board of directors of the Bridge of Central Massachusetts, Inc., from 1997 to 2018, a charitable corporation that housed 400 mentally ill people across the state after being discharged from hospitals. In the same vein, he was formerly the president of the Marlborough-Westborough Mental Health Association, Inc., from 1986 to 1989. Earlier in his career, he served as chair of the Republican Town Committee in Southborough, MA, from 1964 to 1968, having subsequently held the role of member of the town finance committee from 1968 to 1969 and chair of the town capital budget committee from 1969 to 1974. From 1972 to 1995, he was a member of the Worcester Committee on Foreign Relations.

Mr. Wood holds a Bachelor of Arts from Brandeis University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Boston College. He has been admitted to practice law in the state of Massachusetts, as well as before the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. While pursuing his degrees, he served in the United States Army Reserve from 1962 to 1968.

In an effort to remain aware of recent developments within the industry, Mr. Wood has maintained affiliation with several professional organizations in relation to his industry and community, including the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Worcester County Bar Association, where he served on the juvenile court committee from 1992 to 1998. On the board of directors of the Bar Advocates of Worcester County from 2004 to 2018, he also has been serving as treasurer of the Central and Western Massachusetts chapter of the National Association of Counsel for Children since 1995.

As a testament to his professional success, Mr. Wood was named a lifetime fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the Worcester County Bar Association. He was selected for inclusion in the 2009 edition of Who’s Who in America and multiple editions of Who’s Who in American Law.
