Everette A. Braden, Lawyer and Retired Judge, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Law.

Everette Braden is a retired judge and attorney at law specializing in domestic and probate law. He is a skilled litigator in family, criminal and child support enforcement law. Mr. Braden has gathered countless accolades for his outstanding legal services over the last 50 years, including the honor of being appointed by the Supreme Court, a feat that he considers his greatest career accomplishment. He credits his helpful nature, passion, and work ethic for his success. Mr. Braden is the recipient of an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, and has appeared in the fifth and fourth editions of Who’s Who in American Law.

Mr. Braden is a Chicago native, born to Zedrick Thomas and Bernice Braden in 1932, and attended Northwestern University to earn a BS in 1954. He earned a JD and later an LLB from the John Marshall Law School. Mr. Braden initially worked with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, and was a trial attorney with the Law Office of the Cook County Public Defender from 1969 to 1976. He was appointed to supervising trial attorney in 1976, and became an associate judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County in 1977. Over 49 years in the field of law, with 23 years as a judge, he has accrued numerous honors, notably inclusion with the Cook County Bar Association Hall of Fame and privileged membership with the Illinois State Bar Association. He is the recipient of a Cook County Bar Meritorious Service Award, an Illinois Judges Association Award of Merit, and the John Marshall Law School Distinguished Service Award.

Mr. Braden is affiliated with the National Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. He is also a chartered member of the the Illinois Judges Association and a founding member of the Illinois Judicial Council. Mr. Braden is involved with Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, the Northwestern University Alumni Association, the NAACP, Cook County Bar Association Hall of Fame, Prince Hall Mason, 33rd Degree, the John Marshall Law School Alumni Association and many others. He entered the profession because of his brother and father, who were both attorneys. Today, his brother’s two sons are also attorneys, and his sister’s son is an attorney as well. Mr. Braden married Mary Jeanette Hamphill in 1964. They have a daughter, Marilynne. Mr. Braden was also inspired by Colonel Charles Cain, who told him “the main purpose in life is to help someone else, beginning with your family” and wanted to see Mr. Braden as one of the best lawyers in Chicago.
