Lewis David Lowenfels, Partner at Law Offices of Lewis D. Lowenfels, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in capital markets and securities law.
Mr. Lowenfels always held a strong interest in capital markets and securities, and by pursuing law he knew he could make a great impact on a rather challenging field. He received a BA in 1957 and an LLB in 1961, both from Harvard University, and he also became a licensed corporation and securities attorney in 1961. Notably, since 1967, Mr. Lowenfels has been a partner of the Law Offices of Lewis D. Lowenfels, formerly located in New York City. In addition to his practice, he has served as an adjunct professor at Seton Hall University School of Law for 30 years. Mr. Lowenfels gained initial experience as a partner of Tolins & Lowenfels, a small boutique law firm specialized in transactional work, securities regulatory matters and securities arbitration. Prior, he also served as a lecturer at the Practicing Law Institute and Southwestern Legal Foundation of the University of Minnesota, and he was a public governor of the American Stock Exchange, now the Intercontinental Exchange, Inc., from 1993 to 1996.
Having stated that securities laws are at the center of the U.S. economic system and are essential to the prosperity and welfare of its citizens, Mr. Lowenfels co-authors “Bromberg and Lowenfels on Securities Fraud,” an eight-volume treatise considered the standard work in the field. Over the course of his more than 50-year career, he has represented numerous clients of high caliber and been described by Forbes Magazine as “one of the best securities lawyers in the business.” Mr. Lowenfels holds membership with the American Bar Association Federal Regulation of Securities Committee, New York County Lawyers Association Securities and Exchange Committee, Phi Beta Kappa and Harvard Club of New York City. Additionally, he served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1957 to 1963.
