Ms. Pinkney is distinguished for her accomplished seven years in law, beginning as a legal intern at Wesley Law Office in 2018. She completed a second legal internship in 2019 at Bill Hotz & Associates P.C. Ms. Pinkney gained further experience as a legal assistant for Garner & Conner PLLC and attended court appointments from home for two years in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. From 2023 to 2024, she served as a defense attorney with the Kentucky Public Defenders Department.
The impressive trajectory of Ms. Pinkney’s career culminated with the creation of her own firm, Pinkney Law Firm, in 2024. Building on her work as a public defender, she specializes in criminal defense. Additionally, Ms. Pinkney offers family law services, assisting clients with divorce or separation proceedings, child support and child custody hearings, restraining orders, adoption and other complex family matters. She also provides general legal document preparation, including deeds, wills and power of attorney documentation.
The road to Ms. Pinkney’s current success has not been straightforward or simple. She initially didn’t plan to pursue law school and had to overcome numerous challenges, including one of the schools she attended closing down during her studies. In spite of these obstacles, Ms. Pinkney not only finished her degree but also passed the bar exam on her first attempt. She is fiercely proud of her hard work throughout her professional life, especially in establishing her own firm and carrying forward her family’s legacy of entrepreneurship.
The first step on Ms. Pinkney’s vocational path required finding an academic foothold. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a minor in psychology from Eastern Kentucky University in 2012. Subsequently, Ms. Pinkney began pursuing a Juris Doctor at Charlotte School of Law until that institution shut down in 2017. She went on to complete her Juris Doctor at Lincoln Memorial University’s Duncan School of Law in 2019. Ms. Pinkney was admitted to the bar in Tennessee in 2020. She credits her success to a strong drive for positive outcomes and a passion for making a difference in the lives of her clients.
Known for her contributions as a civic-minded citizen, Ms. Pinkney volunteers with many causes that are important to her, including Water Angels Ministries, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s and Wills for Warriors. She has contributed as a board member for the Garrard County Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, Ms. Pinkney supports Relay for Life, the Garrard County Homeless Coalition and her local church. To stay updated in her field, she maintains membership in the Kentucky Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, the Criminal Law Society, the Women of Law Society and the Family Law Society.
Beyond her professional life, Ms. Pinkney enjoys spending time with her family, playing with her two bulldogs, spending time in the pool, reading, singing and watching reality TV. Looking to the future, she hopes to expand her practice by finding a partner for the organization. Ms. Pinkney aims to grow the business along multiple paths. She also hopes to improve her ability to assist clients through referrals to other professionals she trusts.
