Risë Jones Pichon, mediator and arbitrator at Judicial Arbitration Mediation Services (JAMS), has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in legal services.

With nearly five decades of experience, Ms. Pichon has established a distinguished career in legal services. She currently serves as a mediator and arbitrator at JAMS, a position she has held since 2019. Her experience also includes various roles with the Superior Court of the County of Santa Clara, where she was supervising judge of the probate division from 2017 to 2018, presiding judge from 2015 to 2016, supervising judge of the criminal division from 2012 to 2013, assistant supervising judge of the criminal division from 2010 to 2011, and judge from 1998 to 2019. Additionally, she served as a judge with the Santa Clara County Municipal Court from 1984 to 1998, including presiding judge from 1990 to 1991 and court commissioner from 1983 to 1984. She was an attorney with the Office of the County Counsel, County of Santa Clara from 1979 to 1983, and the Office of the Public Defender from 1976 to 1979. She holds a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Santa Clara University, obtained in 1973, and a Juris Doctor from the School of Law, Santa Clara University, earned in 1976.

Ms. Pichon contributes to the Board of Directors of Catholic Relief Services, serves on the Board of Regents Scholarship at Santa Clara University, and is a contributor to the American Leadership Forum-National and the County of Santa Clara. She also dedicates her time to various organizations, including the Board of Regents and Law Advisory Board at Santa Clara University, the California Judges Association, and as a fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Throughout her career, she has received numerous honors, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Women’s Leadership and Policy Summit of the County of Santa Clara in 2024, the President’s Award from the California Judges Association in 2020, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Santa Clara County Trial Lawyers Association in 2019, and the Legendary Champions of Justice Award from the California Association of Black Lawyers. Additionally, she has been recognized by the Presidential Blue Ribbon Commission on Diversity and Inclusion, the Black Legend Awards of Silicon Valley, and the Exemplary Service Award from the Charles Houston Bar Association. Looking to the future, she aims to continue her contributions to various organizations in the County of Santa Clara. Eager to remain active in her field, she plans to leverage the assistance and insights from former judges who are already part of the organization.
