Company: QPWB Law
Location: Lauderhill, Florida, United States
Salisu “Sal” A. Richardson, Esq., managing partner for workers’ compensation at QPWB Law, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in labor law.
With nearly 20 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Richardson has established a successful career in law, specializing in workers’ compensation. He currently serves as the managing partner for workers’ compensation at the Fort Lauderdale office of QPWB Law, a position he has held since 2023. Prior to this, he was the managing partner for litigation in the Florida offices of Adelson, Testan, Brundo, Novell & Jimenez from 2011 to 2023. His earlier roles include associate attorney at Miller, Kagan, Rodriguez and Silver P.L. from 2005 to 2010, and associate attorney at Langston, Hess, Bolton, Znosko & Shepherd from 2003 to 2005. He is a member of the TJ Reddick Bar Association and has served on the Workers’ Compensation Executive Committee of the Florida Bar for three years. He is also vice president of 100 Black Men of Greater Fort Lauderdale, a member of Freedom Boat Club, and part of the Leadership Academy for 100 Black Men in Greater Fort Lauderdale. Additionally, he serves as president of 4-H Broward County and sits on the board of “It’s Your Birthday.”
In light of his impressive undertakings, Mr. Richardson has received numerous accolades, including being elected to the Order of Barristers in 2001 and serving as attorney general of the Student Honor Court. He has been honored with the Exceptional Defense Attorney Award and the Workers’ Compensation Award from In Touch Magazine and has been named one of the Most Powerful Black Leaders in Briar County six times since 2014. Laying a solid educational foundation for these successes, he earned a Bachelor of Science in finance with honors from the University of Florida in 1998, a Master of Arts in real estate from the University of Florida in 2001, and a Juris Doctor in law from the University of Florida in 2002. Additionally, he is a member of the Florida Bar Association and is certified as a litigation management professional by the Litigation Management Institute.
Mr. Richardson takes great pride in his success in resolving workers’ compensation cases, particularly in Florida, and highlights his team’s high closure rates, with many cases settling around the time of mediation. He takes pride in closing files efficiently within the state’s tight deadlines, providing great outcomes for clients. He attributes his success to his faith, hard work, and dedication, and emphasizes the importance of organization and soft skills, alongside legal expertise, for success in the legal field. His motto is to be bold, efficient, and effective, noting that many workers’ compensation attorneys have the necessary knowledge but often lack the confidence to present it effectively.
After the senior partner at his previous firm passed away and the firm disbanded, Mr. Richardson acquired both the Connecticut and New Jersey offices, helping to transform it into one of the fastest-growing woman-owned firms in the country. His main focus has been revitalizing the workers’ compensation department, unifying the firm’s teams across multiple states, and marketing the firm collectively to attract large clients. The firm has also developed a “risk stress test” program tailored for workers’ compensation, helping clients identify risks and providing them with proactive plans to mitigate them. In the coming years, his goal is to retain as many clients as possible and expand the firm’s reach into multiple jurisdictions, offering comprehensive workers’ compensation services nationwide.
