After graduation, Ms. Jacobs decided to found her own law firm, Ana Jacobs & Associates PC in Washington, D.C., in 1995, establishing a career dedicated to immigration law. Prior to this, she held roles at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Argentina and Spain, delving into the intricacies of refugee rights and support. Her professional accolades include recognition from the Wall Street Journal as a top professional and a Nobel Peace Prize acknowledgment from the UNHCR. She attributes her success to her childhood realization that self-reliance was key. 

Ms. Jacobs’ multifaceted career, spanning law, sociology, and international refugee rights, exemplifies her dedication to advocating for immigrants and her commitment to legal excellence. A career-defining moment for Ms. Jacob’s came with a federal court victory that led to the release of immigrants wrongfully detained in Virginia. Ms. Jacobs is also an active participant in several esteemed professional and civic organizations, including memberships in the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the DC Bar Association. 

Beyond her legal engagements, Ms. Jacobs extends her interests to the American Horticultural Society and is associated with the Daughters of the American Revolution. As she approaches the end of her illustrious career, Ms. Jacobs plans to gradually slow down her professional commitments and ultimately retire after her final trial in February 2024. Rooted in her own journey, her advice to aspiring legal professionals emphasizes the value of starting their own practice right after college.
