Prior to his current endeavors, he practiced law for more than a decade as a strategic advisor to various clients on the subjects of corporate law, real estate, asset protection, governance and litigation. Additionally, Mr. Washmon is a former law clerk to a judge at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
Adjacent to his work at Privateer Capital Management, LP, Mr. Washmon has found success as a board member of numerous companies in the real estate, private equity, nonprofit and academic sectors, including Grey Rock Energy Management, American Ventures LLC, Business Executives for National Security, the Lucena Group and the St. Mary’s University School of Law, for which he also serves on the executive committee. Additionally, he is a founding fellow of the Austin Bar Foundation, a lifetime fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and the President-Elect of the St. Mary’s University School of Law Alumni Foundation Board.
Before venturing onto his vocational path, Mr. Washmon sought a formal education at Washington and Lee University, from which he received a bachelor’s degree in 1993. Following this accomplishment, he studied further at the Institute of World Legal Problems at the Leopold-Franzens Universität Innsbruck in 1996, and at the St. Mary’s University School of Law, from which he attained a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1998. Mr. Washmon was subsequently admitted to practice law in the state of Texas, as well as before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Western Districts of Texas.
Among his most cherished achievements, Mr. Washmon is most proud to have contributed his efforts to various teams of talented colleagues that have worked in concert to accomplish vital tasks. In accounting for his success, he largely credits his love for resolving problems. Looking toward the future, Mr. Washmon aspires to continue improving upon his expertise in the field of legal service, and to further avail himself on behalf of others.
