With 25 years of experience to her credit, Ms. Watson has excelled as partner at BKW Family Law LLC since 2006. In her role, she handles divorce, custody, support, and abuse-related cases. She began her affiliation with the same as a law clerk from 1998 to 1999 and an associate from 1999 to 2005. She started her career with the American Bar Association and the Free Library of Philadelphia. Before embarking on her professional path, she pursued an education at Muhlenberg College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English, minored in women’s studies, and graduated magna cum laude. She concluded her studies at Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law, obtaining a Juris Doctorate in law in 1999.
Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Ms. Watson has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She held executive and leadership roles with the Philadelphia Volunteers for the Indigent Program, the Support Center for Child Advocates, the Cherry Hill Women’s Center, the School Board Equity Committee, Pennsylvanians for Modern Courts, and was a member of CORA-Good Shepherd Mediation. She found success with the written works she contributed to, including “Perspectives on Building a Woman-Owned Law Firm,” “Whose Child Is This? Second-Parent Adoption in Pennsylvania,” and “What Happened to the Best Interests of the Children?”
In addition to her primary vocation, Ms. Watson remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She was a member of the Family Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. Moreover, she participated with the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Family Law Section and co-chaired its Civil Gideon Task Force. She was a member of the board of advisors of Pennsylvanians for Modern Courts.
In light of her impressive undertakings, Ms. Watson has accrued several accolades throughout her career. She was presented with multiple awards for professional excellence from the Philadelphia Bar Foundation, the National Foster Parent Association, the Independence Business Alliance, Citizens Bank, and others. She received an AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale-Hubbell, was named a PA Super Lawyer and a Rising Star by PA Super Lawyers, and was listed among the Top 50 Women Super Lawyers. BKW Family Law was cited among the Top Law Firms and among the Top Women-Owned Businesses by the Philadelphia Business Journal. She was inducted into the Pro Bono Roll of Honor by the First Judicial District of PA and named to Philadelphia Volunteers by the Indigent Program Business Journal.
