Prior to this position, she was a family law attorney and owner of a firm from 2012 to 2016. In 2013, Ms. Bornmann Spears worked as a contract family law attorney for Vox Law. She began her career as a paralegal for Stephenson, Sanford & Thone from 2007 to 2008, after which she garnered experience as a drug prosecution paralegal for the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office from 2008 to 2013.
In preparation for her legal career, Ms. Bornmann Spears graduated from Augsburg University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and international relations in 2004. In 2012, she obtained a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Mitchell Hamline School of Law. Eminently qualified, she earned a Certificate in Paralegal Studies from the Minnesota Paralegal Institute in 2007 and is a Registered Mediator. For her accomplishments, Ms. Bornmann Spears was named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers and was listed among the Top Women Attorneys.
