Cynthia A. Jordan, Chief Judge for the Coeur d’Alene Tribe and the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in tribal court.
Since 2021, Ms. Jordan has excelled as the chief judge for both the Coeur d’Alene Tribe and the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho. In this position, she is the final decisionmaker on cases and how the caseload gets distributed between her and other judges. Ms. Jordan works with the tribal court administrator and presides over court proceedings. She handles criminal cases, civil cases and jury trials. At the start of her professional pursuits, Ms. Jordan worked in education. After her husband’s encouragement, she signed up for the Law School Admission Test and scored well.
In preparation for her career, Ms. Jordan attended Idaho State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education. She continued her higher education at the University of Idaho and graduated with a Doctor of Jurisprudence. Throughout her career, Ms. Jordan has served as a judge for seven different indigenous tribes. She developed a class titled “Family Relations in Indian Countries” for the University of Idaho College of Law and received recognition for her work with neglected and abused children. Among her accomplishments, Ms. Jordan was bestowed the Small Firm of the Year Award by the Spokane County Bar Association.
