Shannon Boettjer, Partner at Jaspan Schlesinger LLP, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in commercial and business litigation.
As a partner with Jaspan Schlesinger LLP since 2014, Ms. Boettjer focuses on complex, high-stakes disputes in the areas of commercial, business, insurance coverage, antitrust, unfair business practices, and contract dispute litigation. She also has extensive experience representing global companies in individual and class action employment disputes, consumer class action, product liability, and mass tort litigations, and is AAA certified as a commercial arbitrator.
Following coursework at United World College South East Asia in Singapore and the International Baccalaureate Program at Taipei American School in Taiwan, Ms. Boettjer obtained a Bachelor of Arts in diplomacy and world affairs with a minor in English and comparative literary studies and a Master of Arts in history education from Occidental College in Los Angeles. She continued her education with a Doctor of Jurisprudence, cum laude with emphasis on litigation from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York.
After finding success as a teacher from 1994 to 1997 with Sierra Vista Junior High School and department chair and teacher from 1997 to 1999 with Sunrise Middle School in San Jose, Ms. Boettjer turned her attention to the legal profession in 2001 as a summer associate law clerk, Sedgwick LLP in San Francisco and as an associate with the form from 2002 to 2004. She then prospered as counsel with O’Melveny & Myers LLP from 2004 to 2011 and as senior counsel with Clyde & Co US LLP in New York from 2011 to 2013.
Ms. Boettjer attributes her success to her love of learning which was instilled in her by her parents. She initially become a teacher but when she witnessed gang violence, she realized she wanted to know why there was so much violence in America. This led her to teaching in inner city schools. Later on, she pursued her dream of becoming a lawyer. The highlight of Ms. Boettjer’s career has been responding well to the technological advancements as demanded by her profession. Her proficiency with technology has helped her with client relations and cases. Her late father, who worked with semiconductors, has helped her stay up to date. In the coming years, she would like to continue making a difference in policy and law through technology.
