Ms. Szmuc is lauded as a premier litigation attorney at Offit Kurman, Attorneys at Law, where she began her tenure in 2025. In this capacity, she has demonstrated expertise in commercial and complex litigation, construction litigation, intellectual property and family law. Headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Offit Kurman, Attorneys at Law is a full-service law firm serving businesses, individuals and families across over 30 practice areas.

Before joining Offit Kurman, Attorneys at Law, Ms. Szmuc was an attorney at Cohen Seglias Pallas Greenhall & Furman PC from 2024 to 2025. During this period, she continued to refine her litigation skills and contributed to a variety of complex legal matters. Between 2022 and 2024, she was an associate attorney at Hankin Palladino Weintrob Bell & Labov. Under the mentorship of managing partner John Palladino, she gained significant experience handling complex litigation matters.

Ms. Szmuc’s early legal training included serving as a student attorney at the Vaccine Injury Litigation Clinic at GW Law, The George Washington University, from 2021 to 2022. She also provided LSAT tutoring through Tutor Doctor during this time and contributed as a moderator and writer for the International Law and Policy Brief at GW Law, The George Washington University. Additionally, in 2021, Ms. Szmuc worked as a student attorney at the Child and Family Trial Office for the Committee for Public Counsel Services, where she advocated for children and families in trial settings.

Ms. Szmuc’s academic background has been instrumental in shaping her legal career. She completed her secondary education at Wayne Hills High School within Wayne Township Public Schools. Her undergraduate studies culminated in a Bachelor of Science in international relations and diplomacy, magna cum laude, from Seton Hall University in New Jersey. She then obtained a Doctor of Jurisprudence from GW Law, The George Washington University. While working toward her law degree, Ms. Szmuc completed internships with INTERPOL, the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office within the Suffolk County Government.

In addition to her formal education, Ms. Szmuc’s credentials include a Rule 3.03 student practitioner certification awarded by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court in 2021. She has been admitted to practice by the New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Connecticut Bar Associations, the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania within the Unified Judicial System of Pennsylvania, the Supreme Court of New Jersey within the New Jersey Courts, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.

Beyond her professional pursuits, Ms. Szmuc is deeply committed to advocacy work outside traditional business settings. She represents survivors of domestic violence in trial proceedings, secures protective orders and negotiates civil agreements on their behalf. These efforts have had a meaningful impact on individuals seeking safety and justice within their communities. Ms. Szmuc’s dedication extends to pro bono legal work with organizations such as Domestic Violence Fix.

Among Ms. Szmuc’s most notable achievements was being entrusted to serve as the primary drafter of briefs before the U.S. Supreme Court in a construction industry case while employed by Hankin Palladino. The specific issue that reached the Supreme Court, which addressed the Colorado River doctrine, a principle of federal civil procedure and the ability to stay federal proceedings when identical cases are pending in state court. Ms. Szmuc and her team opposed the state’s request for a stay, effectively arguing that no circuit split existed and persuading the Supreme Court to uphold their position, resulting in a favorable outcome.

Ms. Szmuc attributes much of her success to her competitive nature. She approaches every challenge with intensity, viewing setbacks as steps toward eventual achievement rather than endpoints. Mentorship and family support have also played significant roles throughout Ms. Szmuc’s journey. As a first-generation attorney whose family immigrated from Poland, she has built a career marked by unwavering dedication to excellence in law and a passion for advocacy. In light of her success, Ms. Szmuc has received several accolades from GW Law, The George Washington University, including the Best Oral Advocate Award from the Mock Trial Board in 2020 and a Pro Bono Service Award in 2022.

Looking ahead, Ms. Szmuc is focused on advancing within her firm and aspires to become a partner. She also intends to continue publishing scholarly articles and launch a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting victims of traumatic experiences beyond domestic violence alone. Furthermore, Ms. Szmuc hopes to collaborate with prosecutors and police departments to provide resources for those not yet ready to seek legal counsel, connecting them with pro bono representation from large private firms so they can access critical support services.
