Ms. Barber’s formal education laid a strong foundation for her legal career, having initially earned a Bachelor of Arts in humanities with a major concentration in history and a minor in English from Washington State University in Pullman, Washington, in 1997. She ultimately graduated with a Juris Doctor from McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific in Sacramento, California, in 2001. These academic achievements provided her with critical thinking skills and a broad perspective essential for navigating complex legal matters.

In 2008, Ms. Barber obtained her certification as a family law specialist from the California Bar Board of Legal Specialization, further distinguishing her as an expert in her field. She has been admitted to practice by The State Bar of California since 2001.

Throughout her career, Ms. Barber has credited her success to mentorship, having benefited from guidance early on and now encouraging others to seek similar support. She has intentionally focused her practice within small boutique firms rather than large law offices, prioritizing work-life balance and community engagement over long hours typical of larger firms. Her experiences as a parent—particularly raising neurodivergent and medically complex children—have informed her empathetic approach to client advocacy and reinforced her commitment to maintaining balance between professional responsibilities and personal life.

Beyond her legal practice, Ms. Barber is deeply engaged with civic organizations and community initiatives. She serves as a board member for Solano Foster Connection, as a Cub Scout leader and on the Choir Booster Board. Each year, she organizes a Thanksgiving food drive that provides over 100 meals to low-income families throughout Solano County. Additionally, she contributes to the deacon board at her local church. Ms. Barber is also dedicated to education within her profession, frequently sharing her knowledge as a speaker and presenter at family law seminars for paralegals, at events hosted by the National Business Institute, and through presentations for the Solano County Bar Association.

Looking toward the future, Ms. Barber remains committed to helping individuals navigate the family law system with compassion and expertise. She plans to expand her focus into areas such as mediation, parenting coordination, private judging and alternative dispute resolution while continuing to mentor younger students and attorneys entering the field. Currently engaged in short-term mentorships with law students and clerks, she is dedicated to fostering growth within the next generation of legal professionals.
