Title: Managing Partner
Company: Cornerstone Law Group PLLC
Location: Fairfax, Virginia, United States
Adriana Fernandez Estevez, managing partner at Cornerstone Law Group PLLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in immigration and family law.
Across nearly 20 years, Ms. Estevez has established herself as a trusted figure in the field of immigration law. Her professional journey began in 2008, when she completed internships at Shared Hope International and the Nassau County Attorney’s Office’s Family Court Bureau. Ms. Estevez then joined the Law Offices of Zemsky and Salomon as a legal secretary in 2009. She further built her credentials in family and immigration law through a legal internship at the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants’ National Committee for Refugee and Immigrant Children.
While working toward her Juris Doctor, Ms. Estevez contributed as a student attorney at Columbus Community Legal Services and the nonprofit organization Ayuda. Her proper career began in 2014, when she accepted a position as an associate attorney at Yao Law Firm, where she has stayed as the company itself has gone through major transformations. In 2015, Yao Law Firm merged with another group, becoming Woehrle Dahlberg Jones Yao PLLC. When this shift happened, Ms. Estevez was promoted to senior associate attorney. She received another promotion in 2019, when the company changed its name to Cornerstone Law Group PLLC and she took on the role of managing partner.
As managing partner, Ms. Estevez is responsible for a wide range of Cornerstone’s day-to-day operations. She directly handles court cases, in particular engaging in immigration matters, custody cases and hearings related to foster care review or child protective orders. Ms. Estevez also maintains relationships with other attorneys across the county, since Cornerstone often collaborates with outside lawyers for especially complex scenarios. As a fluent Spanish speaker, she offers essential communication with Spanish-speaking clients. Further demonstrating her commitment to immigrant communities, Ms. Estevez also hosts a weekly 30-minute talk show on La Mega Radio. During this segment, she provides advice and updates on immigration issues and answers calls with questions from listeners.
Before venturing onto her vocational path, Ms. Estevez solidified her credentials with her education. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in international affairs and philosophy with a minor in science from The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs in 2009. Subsequently, Ms. Estevez earned a Juris Doctor from The Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law in 2013. She has been admitted to the bar in the state of Virginia.
Ms. Estevez has garnered several awards and accolades for her accomplishments. She was elected as an Elite Lawyer and has been inducted into the National Association of Distinguished Counsel. Ms. Estevez has been featured as a Rising Star Super Lawyer since 2019. She regularly serves her community above and beyond her career, including taking on pro bono cases and operating as a certified guardian ad litem. Ms. Estevez considers the greatest achievement of her career to be every instance where she has successfully reunited parents with their children, noting that these outcomes can be rare but are the reason she got involved with immigration cases in the first place. She attributes her success to the mentorship of Matthew Yao, who introduced her to guardianship work shortly after she graduated from law school and has continued to give her advice and guidance.
Outside of her professional life, Ms. Estevez is a devoted wife and a loving mother to two children. When she’s not working, she gets joy from spending time with her family and watching Formula One racing. While eager to continue her growth with Cornerstone Law Group, Ms. Estevez envisions launching her own law firm that can carry forward that association. She intends for this new law firm to essentially operate as a dedicated immigration department spinning off from Cornerstone and building on her established connection to the Hispanic community. Additionally, Ms. Estevez hopes to dedicate more time to writing blog posts and other articles in the future to spread her insight to a wider audience.
