Genevieve Eva Harte, attorney at Melfi Law LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in employment law.

For more than 15 years, Ms. Harte has established herself as a leading attorney specializing in employment law and defending employers. Since 2025, she has served as a partner at Melfi Law LLC, where she lends the firm an international lens based on her experiences growing up in England as part of a multicultural family. Concurrently with her role at Melfi Law, Ms. Harte has practiced as an estate planning attorney since 2023 and as an immigration attorney since 2017. When working with clients on immigration matters, she has experience in applications, hearings, trials and appeals. Ms. Harte’s greatest accomplishment involves winning an immigration court appeal for a family without the help of a paralegal or translator, resulting in the family being allowed to remain in the United States. This landmark case took place in 2019 and helped set a precedent for not deporting immigrants who are at risk of being discriminated against or even tortured in their home country.

Before joining Melfi Law, Ms. Harte garnered experience as an attorney with Melvin & Melvin PLLC and Stanley Law Offices. From 2020 to 2024, she contributed to LexisNexis Legal & Professional Inc. as a sales and marketing specialist and a practice area consultant. Ms. Harte’s earlier professional experience includes time as an associate at Tully Rinckey PLLC, Pearce Law Firm and Sarmasti PLLC; a judicial law clerk at the Superior Court of New Jersey; and an associate and law clerk at Fleming Ruvoldt PLLC. She founded her first business, First Class Tutoring LLC, in 2010, initially holding the position of chief executive officer for several years and remaining as a silent partner until 2015. Ms. Harte focused on tutoring for 20 years, both before and after deciding to pursue law.

Ms. Harte’s legal career began with multiple roles as a legal extern, including tenures with the Social Security Administration, the New York Liquidation Bureau, the United States Postal Service and the United Nations Affiliated Summer Project for the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNICTRAL) Working Group via the Internation Institute of Commercial Law. Her professional life began as a customer relations manager at Sofia’s Jewelry in 2009.

Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Harte has also been active with writing and research in her field. While working toward her Juris Doctor, she served as a journal member for the Seton Hall Circuit Review. During this time, Ms. Harte published articles on litigation equity, including a noteworthy paper titled “Electronic Discovery in Civil Litigation: Avoiding Surprises in Cost Shifting Decisions.” In 2019, she contributed to a survey of developments in international law in Connecticut through the Connecticut Bar Association.

Before venturing onto her vocational path, Ms. Harte built her credentials through her education, beginning with a Bachelor of Arts in archaeology and anthropology and a Master of Arts in theology, both obtained in 1996 from the University of Cambridge. She returned to academia in 2013, completing her first year of law school at Pace University. Subsequently, Ms. Harte earned a Juris Doctor in international law and legal studies from Seton Hall University’s School of Law in 2015. Dedicated to lifelong improvement, she has solidified her expertise in multiple ways. Ms. Harte is certified in professional research through Lexis Nexis and in global corporate compliance through the New York State Bar Association. She has been admitted to the bar in New York.

Beyond her esteemed career, Ms. Harte is a devoted mother to four children. When not working, she enjoys exercise and nutrition and is an avid reader of science, history and fiction. In considering the future of her work and field, Ms. Harte expects to focus on the increasing prevalence of artificial intelligence (AI). She hopes to assist employers in discovering the best ways to implement AI and transition their businesses while helping employees adapt to these changes as well.
