Mr. Berliner has established himself as a distinguished counsel at Lowenstein Sandler LLP, where he leverages his extensive expertise in environmental law and sustainability. Working at the firm’s New Jersey office in Roseland, he advises property owners, companies, multi-entity groups and nonprofits on environmental compliance matters, including cleanups and permitting. Mr. Berliner represents clients in litigation and dispute resolution under New Jersey and federal environmental laws. He also provides guidance on environmental, social and governance requirements and best practices, offering his comprehensive understanding of environmental issues to sellers, buyers and borrowers involved in corporate and real estate transactions.

A career journey marked by significant milestones, Mr. Berliner joined Lowenstein Sandler LLP in 2019 as an associate attorney before being named a counsel in 2025. His legal career also included a judicial clerkship for the Honorable Keith E. Lynott in the Superior Court of New Jersey from 2018 to 2019, gained valuable experience as a summer associate at Sive, Paget & Riesel in 2017, and had the opportunity to complete a judicial internship for the Honorable Kenneth M. Karas in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York in 2017. Mr. Berliner’s early career also included roles as an honors law clerk at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in 2016 and several other internships that honed his skills in environmental law.

Mr. Berliner earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics and environmental studies, summa cum laude, from Bucknell University in 2015. He also holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence with an environmental law certificate, summa cum laude, from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University in 2018. During his time there, Mr. Berliner served as editor-in-chief of the Pace Environmental Law Review and co-president of the Energy and Climate Law Society. His academic achievements have been instrumental in his professional success, providing a strong foundation for his expertise in environmental law.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Berliner is actively involved in civic organizations and pro bono work. He leads Lowenstein Sandler’s chapter of the Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund’s Name Change Project, providing legal representation for transgender and gender-expansive clients seeking judicial name changes. He also co-leads Lowenstein’s sustainability committee, focusing on sustainability initiatives to reduce the firm’s greenhouse gas emissions.

Mr. Berliner’s contributions extend to scholarly publications, namely as the author of “What About Uncle Sam? Carving a New Place for the Public Trust Doctrine in Federal Climate Litigation,” published in the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Law & Social Change in 2018.

In light of his remarkable success, Mr. Berliner has received numerous accolades throughout his career. His dedication to public service was acknowledged with the Bohn Vergari Public Service Award by the Westchester County Bar Association in 2018. Super Lawyers also recognized Mr. Berliner as a New Jersey Rising Star from 2023 to 2024. Moreover, he was named among Best Lawyers’ Ones to Watch in 2025. Looking ahead, Mr. Berliner plans to continue his work in areas he is passionate about while exploring new sectors within the environmental field alongside his clients and firm colleagues.
