Mr. Whittenburg, a highly collaborative corporate and securities lawyer, has actively practiced full-time for over 20 years. Since 2021, he has been leveraging his expertise as the managing director of Jos. W. Whittenburg, P.C., a boutique law firm based in Houston. His role encompasses counseling public and private organizations on an array of matters that cater to their unique corporate and business needs. These services include mergers and acquisitions, capital formation, entity formation, dissolutions and more. Mr. Whittenburg’s expertise in corporate and business law, securities regulation, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filings and handling data have been pivotal in shaping his success. His greatest contributions lie in his ability to work seamlessly with professionals from other disciplines to help cross functional teams achieve their full potential.
Besides his work at Jos. W. Whittenburg, P.C., Mr. Whittenburg is a certified public accountant and worked in public accounting as an auditor. In 2001, he founded AerMill Solutions LLC as a consulting firm. After a period of dormancy, while Mr. Whittenburg focused solely on his law practice, he revitalized AerMill to support a global network of high-end professionals by providing a consistent and hassle-free web presence, which enhances portability and facilitates career transitions.
After leaving accounting and while in law school, Mr. Whittenburg worked as a senior associate at Enron before its collapse in 2001. During his time at Enron, he leveraged his fluency in accounting to learn coding and rapid application development. He is inherently analytical and process-oriented. After passing the bar exam, Mr. Whittenburg devoted himself fully to his law practice, first at BoyarMiller, then at Strasburger & Price, LLP, and finally at Oceaneering International, Inc.
While at Oceaneering, Mr. Whittenburg worked at the heart of teams that successfully closed over 20 deals varying greatly in size and complexity. totaling well over $250 million. During this time, he found a true friend while supporting Mark Peterson, who was then the vice president of corporate development, during record highs, a global downturn, and ensuing temporary cessation of M&A activity in the oilfield services industry. Mr. Peterson’s success in navigating this difficult series of macroeconomic developments and subsequent expansion of his duties to include those of the vice president of investor relations serves as a personal highlight for Mr. Whittenburg. He has been fortunate to continue supporting his colleagues at Oceaneering for years after his return to private practice.
Mr. Whittenburg double majored with a Bachelor of Arts in economics, with honors, and a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting at the University of Texas at Austin. Subsequently, he was awarded a Doctor of Jurisprudence in law by the University of Houston Law Center and admitted to practice by the State Bar of Texas. He has also maintained his license with the Texas Board of Public Accountancy in a non-practicing status, CPE-exempt.
Beyond his work endeavors, Mr. Whittenburg enjoys being active in his community through his church, friends and family. He has also volunteered with Trees for Houston for 20 years.
Eager for the future of his career, Mr. Whittenburg is enthusiastic about growing his law practice, mainly focusing on building deep, long-lasting relationships with great clients. He also remains enthusiastic about what the future might hold for AerMill Solutions LLC, which he believes has tremendous growth potential.
