Mr. Resnick is an esteemed attorney and the founder and managing partner at Resnick Law PC, where he has been at the helm of his firm for over 30 years. As part of his responsibilities, he handles a wide range of commercial transactions, primarily focusing on real estate and commercial properties, such as office buildings, hotels and shopping centers. He has also been involved in numerous complex cases in state and federal court and across multiple jurisdictions in other states and internationally. Moreover, Mr. Resnick has succeeded in multiple business transactions throughout his legal tenure, including shareholder purchases and mergers and acquisitions.
As a seasoned litigator, Mr. Resnick has represented various types of businesses, from small, privately owned companies to Fortune 50 and Fortune 500 corporations. He relishes the opportunity to tackle challenging cases and never shies away from representing the underdog. Throughout his career, Mr. Resnick has achieved significant success and incredible outcomes.
Before opening his practice, Mr. Resnick was an attorney at Thav, Gross, Steinway and Bennett in Bingham Farms, Michigan, from 1989 to 1993. This foundational role was instrumental for him, as he garnered tremendous expertise both in the courtroom and the board room. During this time, Mr. Resnick also began trying cases in state and federal courts and became proficient in representing clients in Chapter 11 cases in bankruptcy court.
A graduate of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mr. Resnick received a Bachelor of Arts, with high distinction, in 1982. He then attended Wayne State University in Detroit, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1987. He was admitted to practice by the Michigan Bar Association, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th and 7th Circuits, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, and the U.S. Tax Court.
Beyond his primary career objectives, Mr. Resnick is active in his professional community as a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Oakland County Bar Association, and the Michigan Association for Justice. He also enjoys giving back to his community by volunteering for various local causes. Most notably, Mr. Resnick is a certified level four coach with USA Hockey, which is based in Colorado. As a father of sons who play the sport, he has devoted much time mentoring players between ages six and 20 and supporting kids from diverse backgrounds. Mr. Resnick has also drawn satisfaction from supporting children facing various challenges, like attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, by helping them refocus, build confidence and achieve success on and off the ice.
In light of Mr. Resnick’s decades of legal success, he has been recognized as an AV Preeminent Attorney by Martindale-Hubbell every year since 2012 and was named a Top Lawyer by Metro Detroit. He also received an award as One of America’s Most Honored Professionals, was recognized with several Pro Bono Legal Representation Awards, a Dykema Gossett Award for Brief Writing Excellence, and was the winner of the Barris, Sott, Denn & Driker Trial Competition. Furthermore, Mr. Resnick was elected to the Oakland County Bar Association Fellows, representing less than 10% of members.
