Parvan P. Parvanov, Esq., Founder and Head of Chambers at International Arbitration Chambers New York, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in international law and international arbitration.

Parvan P. Parvanov, Esq., a preeminent figure in international arbitration, has been recognized for his exceptional contributions to the field. As founder and head of chambers at International Arbitration Chambers New York, established in 2014, he leads high-stakes international arbitration disputes across jurisdictions, including commercial,  investment, and business-of-sports arbitrations (ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, ICSID, PCA, ICDR, CAS), while managing teams in the USA, Europe, Middle East, and Asia. Recent examples of Mr. Parvanov’s work include Vasilisa Ershova and Jegor Jeršov v. Republic of Bulgaria (ICSID Case No. ARB/22/29), an investment arbitration under the Energy Charter Treaty concerning the alleged expropriation of shares in Bulgaria’s largest fuels distributor and storage operator, held by Lithuanian investor Mr. Denis Jeršov; EPIC Investments GmBh, NECA Ltd. v. Innova Capital Ltd. et al. (ICC), a dispute over advisory fees linked to Kosovo’s telecom privatization in which he achieved a settlement exceeding double the original claim value; Jak Sukyas v. Romania (UNCITRAL), handling claims related to Romania’s failure to restitute and pay compensation for Cinegrafia Română (CIRO Films), a historic film studio and Southeast Europe’s pre-World War II audiovisual production leader.

Mr. Parvanov strived to obtain favorable outcomes for such cases as Moti Ramot & Rami Levy v. Republic of Bulgaria (ICSID Case No. ARB/18/47), an indirect expropriation case involving a luxury real estate project in Sofia; PFC CSKA-Sofia EAD v. UEFA (CAS), an emergency appeal against UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rulings from which the settlements reinstated the club to European competitions—the only cases where UEFA reversed a “three-year rule” ban; and Space Systems/Loral, LLC v. Bulsatcom EAD (ICDR), in which he defended the largest satellite provider in Central and Eastern Europe in a $112 million dispute (claims and counterclaims) over financing of geostationary satellite launched by Space-X. Some of Mr. Parvanov’s publications include “Pro-Arbitration is Regulation” in “Pro-Arbitration Revisited: A Tribute to Professor George Bermann from his Students Over the Years” for Juris Publishing in 2023, “The “Americanization” of the New York Convention by the Federal Courts in Manhattan – Unraveling the Origins of an Idiosyncratic Approach to “Non-Signatories” at the Enforcement Stage” for Transnational Dispute Management in 2020, and both “The Dearest Arbitration (What the ‘Belene’ Arbitrations Will Revolve Around)” and “International Protection of Foreign Investors and the Price of Administrative Arbitrariness” for Capital Weekly in 2013 and 2016, respectively.

Mr. Parvanov has experienced many highlights over the course of his stellar career, including acting as lead counsel in landmark international arbitration disputes for investors, sovereign states, medium- and large-size corporations across industries. He has likewise practiced at top firms in Paris, Washington, D.C., and New York, such as Freshfields, Wilmer Hale, and Dewey Ballantine, enabling him to blend U.S., English, and European civil law traditions. Moreover, Mr. Parvanov coached Columbia Law’s championship team at the 2012 Hong Kong Arbitration Competition and taught international arbitration at the International Arbitration Training & Assistance Institute and Columbia Law School.

To support his professional ambitions, Mr. Parvanov initially pursued an education at St. Klement Ohridsky University, from which he earned a Magister Juris in 2004. He continued his formal studies with a Master of Laws in English law and international arbitration at LSE in 2005. He ultimately concluded his academic efforts at Columbia Law School, from which he obtained a Master of Laws in 2009 before graduating with a Doctor of Jurisprudence, with honors, in 2011.

An avid skier and guitarist, Mr. Parvanov balances his professional rigor with music production and family time with his wife and three children. Looking toward the future, he envisions himself expanding International Arbitration Chambers New York into a premier specialized global practice, challenging traditional European dominance with a uniquely collaborative, transatlantic approach.
